I Could Use A Love Song

She stood at his doorstep with her bags in her hand. She stumbled inside and dropped her bags. As soon as he touched her, she collapsed into him as sobs racked her small frame. She had given an entire year, 365 days of her life, to someone who was cheating on her for 6 months of that year. He just stood there, rubbing circles on my back with one hand and running his other hand through my hair. I could hear him quietly shushing me.

"I wasted an entire year on him." She said as her sobs turned into a more normal crying. "I cooked, I cleaned, I gave up my job with you guys for him. I was so stupid."

He didn't say anything, he just directed her over to the couch and carefully lied her down. He lifted her head to put some goose down pillows behind it. He pulled the blanket over her and he handed her the remote to turn the TV on, She knew what he was going to do, he was going to let her watch all the chick flicks and order fried chicken and pizza.

"Amie." Ashley started. "You are beautiful, intelligent, funny. You've got the biggest heart and the purest soul in the world. Don't let that asshole ruin your life."

Amie felt Ashley's lips on her forehead, before he lifted up her legs, sat down and put her legs on his lap. Amie's cries were almost over and Ashley watched as she fell asleep. She really was beautiful. Her brown hair hung in waves around her face and reached to the middle of her back, her dark skin that was flushed from crying and shaking. Her dimples that popped as she smiled in her sleep. How can you not fall in love with her? More importantly, how can someone hurt her the way he did? Ashley would usually try and find the guy and knock him out, but, he knows as soon as Amie wakes back up, she'll pray for him, she fully believes in prayer and meditation, especially when someone does her wrong.
