I'll Bring A War

“What do we have to do?” I ask, “We have to get them out now.” I want to help, I’m eager to break them out of the Temple. Adrenaline is gushing around my body at the news and I am fidgety with the need to help. “We can’t do anything until we have a map of inside the Temple.” Jinxx carefully holds my hands in his as he essentially tells me that there is nothing I can do to help; I argue against it. “We must be able to do something,” I plead to them.
“We’re in the process of choosing a rebel to break into the Temple control room, which we know is on the lowest underground floor, and find the map. We can only hope it’s there, it’s our only idea as to where they might put a map.” Andy explains the dilemma to me.
I make up my mind quickly before decisively saying, “I’ll do it.”

“No.” Immediately Ashley’s grip around me tightens and he turns me around and continues, “There is no way you are breaking into the Temple to get that map. No.” Jinxx is nodding beside Ashley in agreement. CC is the first person to speak up on my side of the argument, “Wait. It’s a good idea actually.” Ashley, Jinxx and I, surprised at the backup, stare at him shocked. “Kiera is agile and small; she can easily outrun or fight against a soldier. If one of us goes with her, and possibly even another person, she’d be safe, surely.”
“She doesn’t know anything about the city, she’s never been there,” Jinxx protests.
“’She’ is sat right here,” I comment, annoyed at Jinxx’s third person reference to me.
“Sorry, Kiera,” Jinxx corrects, laughing with me - I nod in reply to him, pulling a fake angry face. CC explains his point further, clearing any confusion, “That’s why one of us go with her, so that we know the city and how it works and Kiera can do the stealing whilst we keep a look out.”
“Oh I see, get my girlfriend to do the dirty work while you have the easy job and keep a look out,” Ashley fumes. I blush and smile slightly at the mentioning of me being his girlfriend but waste no time in placing my hands gently on his shoulders and try to calm him down. “Ash, I can do this. I want to help.”
“If Kiera goes, I go with her,” Ashley demands.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” CC chimes in.
“Yeah, if anything did happen to either one of you we need someone who would deal with it and make it back to camp safely,” Jinxx agrees.
“Andy, what do you think?” CC asks, as we all realise that he has been the only one who has remained silent throughout the whole conversation.

“Firstly, I think we should only send two people; we don’t want to risk losing any of our numbers. Secondly, Ash I’m sorry, but I do agree with CC and Jinxx in that Kiera would be a good person to go. Fina - -“
“I’m going,” Ashley cuts Andy off, standing up.
“Ash, you can’t,” Jinxx says carefully, placing a hand on Ashley’s shoulder.
“Please, Ash, just hear them out. We don’t have to decide anything for certain right now,” I tell him calmly, holding onto his hands. “Fine,” he retorts like a grumpy child.
“Carry on Andy,” CC directs calmly.
“I was going to agree with what you had said, and that Ashley should stay here,” Andy says simply. Frustration smoulders in Ashley’s eyes but fails to ignite as his eyes fill with pleading and hope, “Please Andy, let me go with her.” Everyone remains silent, not meeting his eyes, “Jinxx? CC?” He pleads, he knows he’s lost his argument when none answers and his voice gets quieter. Eventually he slinks out of the room, leaving us in silence.
