As we talked, I found myself thinking more and more appreciatively of Andy’s physical features. It was embarrassing, to say the least, that I found myself checking out a dhampire, but I knew it was only natural. Apparently, Andy took after his daddy.

Once it had started to get late, Andy moved his pack away from the intact bed, and started collecting the covers from the old, collapsed one. I turned towards him, “Hey, it’s ok, you can have the bed. You were here first, it’s only fair.”

Andy smiled and I felt the start of an aching, lustful burn in my midsection. “But you spared my life, right?”

Some part of me made me speak without thinking first. “So we can share the bed. I mean, we’re both adults, right?”

Andy paused in the midst of arranging the sheets on the floor. “Shit, it’s happening, isn’t it?”

Eh? “What?”

Andy flushed with embarrassment, and he looked adorable. “Um… Look, I’m really sorry. It must be poorly ventilated in here. Um, it’s just, well, just like vampires, dhampires are unusually attractive to humans. And, well, you’re human…”

Something made me incredibly bold, more forward than I’d ever been with anybody, “So you’re not interested?”

Andy’s whole face turned red. “Whoa, uh, I didn’t say that. You’re very, I mean, I just, you know, don’t want to take advantage-“

I smiled, thrilled to learn that the mutual attraction I’d sensed wasn’t just me being hopeful. “-Like I said, we’re both adults. I have condoms. It’s been a long time, for me at least.”

Andy moved to sitting near to me on the bench, and I was overcome by a wave of his masculine smell. It was intoxicating. “Are you serious right now? I mean-“

I cut him off with a kiss, and the moment I his lips touched mine, I felt like my whole existence turned to putty. Which would be why I was so disappointed when he pulled away.
