The Real Story Behind Andy Black

Meanwhile downstairs CC paces back and forth in front of the floor to the ceiling, the windows, and in the sunroom. Restless Ashley is leaned against the door frame sipping his glass of blood watching him mind wandering Jake walks in.

Jake- "I wonder if I couldn't find a potion to ease his discontent during the change."

Ashley - "if you want to ease his discontent all you have to do is open the door."

Jake- "it's not that simple."

Ashley- "it's not??"

Jake- "I mean it could be but what if he left and didn't come back?"

Ashley- "then wouldn't that be his choice? I mean we're all here of our own accord aren't we?"

Jake looks upstairs," idk are we?"

Ashley follows Jake's eye line and feels guilty, "I know I made a choice without asking him you don't have to make me feel bad about it Jake. Trust me I made him I feel all his emotions, why do you think I'm down here instead of upstairs asleep? Hard to sleep when you keep choking on someone else's tears."

Jake sighs, "I'm sorry I know you well enough to know you didn't do it out of malice you thought you were doing him a justice."

Ashley- "you know Jake to be fair I don't really know that to be true ... "

Ashley explains the night's events to Jake.

"I was in the alley terrorizing teenagers cause I have nothing better to do with my life than cock block America's youth and I jumped up on this trash can and threw an empty beer bottle smashing it on the adjacent building when I hear someone scream SHIT!! I look up and Jake my heart hasn't beat in 3100 years but for fucks sake he tried to choke me I swear he looked right through me I froze and he damn near broke his neck to get out of there. I had to follow that gorgeous creature, he could tell I was there and he kept looking back, he was radiating nervousness. I stayed back in the shadows though as my years have well taught me I had to introduce myself I just had to have him. But before I got the chance this pack of road rage induced ass hats attacked him from all around. I could hear his bones breaking, I could smell his blood being spilled, and by the smell the pool was getting larger by the second I couldn't take it any longer. I leaped from the shadows ripping each jacked up piece of shit off of him. Breaking them in two in half removing them in pieces it didn't matter to me how I got them off of him or how all that mattered to me was him. I had to get to him I had to save him NOW!!"

Finally there he lay sprawled in a pool of his own blood his heart beat slow and weak. His color fading, those deep blue eyes fading to a heartbreaking grey, I will never forget the look in his eyes. Suddenly all my years, all my rules, and all my never gave a fucks left me. I found myself lifting his wrist to my mouth and my fangs plunging into his vein. He was so weak I didn't take much hell after those monsters wasn't much left to take his eyes began to flutter. I retracted my fangs his brows furrowed together shocked and not quite making sense of my fangs. I'm sure he must think he's dreaming. I draw my own wrist to my mouth and bite down. And thought YUCK!! The taste of my own blood in my mouth like licking pennies nasty!!! I lift his head into my lap ok sweet boy you've been very brave this night now drink and rest and when you wake up I promise I will be here to explain all that has happened.."

Andy opens his mouth and Ashley lowers his wrist to his mouth the blood makes its way into Andy's mouth. He makes a horrible face at first but as the red copper tasting liquid creeps down his throat. Andy feels himself slip away like falling into a deep well, spinning and swirling away and the last thing he can think of is those beautifully perfect chocolate brown eyes that, voice like velvet comforting him into resting, now all his pain seems to be fading, shit if this is torture well you know......

Andy wakes up slightly panicked as it first because he doesn't recognize his surroundings then it all comes rushing back it was not a fever induced hallucinations, but that it is in fact his new reality. He throws off his covers and puts his feet to the floor and slumped over his legs.

Jinxx- "that's bad for your back you know."

Andy- "Jesus fuck who is there??"

Jinxx appears from the shadows, "sorry!! I didn't mean to frighten you I came by to bring you breakfast."

Andy- "I'm not hungry."

Jinxx- vampires are always hungry."

Andy- well I'm not," right as he said that his stomach growls.

Jinxx- "uhhhhh huh right well I'm just gonna leave this for the not hungry vampire," then
Andy glances at the glass, him stomach growls again, he glances back at the doorway and then returns to his previous slumped posture.

BAck down stairs
Cc- "good morning," he says as he yawns.

Jake- "good morning," and continues cooking.

Cc- "man that smells great I'm starving."

Ashley- "you say that like that's a new thing."

Jake laughs, "well it'll be ready in just a few minutes, I figured you'd still be asleep, as restless as you were last night."

Cc- "well who can sleep with food smelling that good."

Jake laughs and sips his coffee.

Cc- "daymn have a rough night Ashley?"

Ashley - "let's not talk about it."

Cc- "snappy much."

Ashley - "sorry didn't sleep."

Cc- "why?"

Ashley- "let's say the joys of being a sire."

Cc- "I take it lover boy isn't thrilled with you turning him in to a blood sucker."

Jake- "CC!"

Cc- "I ..I am so sorry," he looks awkwardly at the counter. "I don't know where that came from Ash.."

Ashley- "it's fine. I mean how can I get offended when you're right, you're right." Ashley excuses himself from the kitchen and walks out onto the back patio.

Andy finally descends the stairs and sees Jake ,Jinxx, and CC sitting at the dining room table. He smiles vaguely what can he say they didn't seem like bad people, but they sure were not the people he'd had to leave behind. Hopefully they'll forgive his heart sickness.

Andy- "where is Ashley?"

Jake- "I think he's outside."

Andy- "in the daylight?

Jake- "yessssss? He a daylight star."

Andy- looks slightly unsure, "what's thats?"

Jake - "it's a necklace a made for him that protects him from the sunlight and allows him to live his life as normal as possible."

Andy - "normal," he scoffs.

Jake puts down his paper and clears his throat, "look I know this is all a culture shock and your old normal is gone and we are all real sorry about that, but it's up to you to give this a shot to be any kind of new normal."

Cc- "THATS Righttttttttt!!!"

Andy- "I guess so.."

Jake- "would you like me to make you a daylight prism, so you can give this thing a shot?"

Andy - "yes please...."

Jake- "well is there anything that you always wear something that idk makes you, you. Kinda feel not complete without it?"

Andy - "my lip ring."

Jake - "ding ding we have a winner follow me."

Andy follows Jake into his magic lab and removes his lip ring and hands it to Jake who places the ring in a bowl. After some words Andy didn't understand and a couple of minutes Jake hands the ring back. It was oddly warm and says, "ok it's ready." Andy raises his eyebrow in disbelief but puts his lip ring back in place and follows Jake back into the dining room. Everyone is staring at him

Andy - "what?"

Jinxx - "aren't you gonna try it out?"

Andy looks at the dark window the forbidden sun closed out behind blinds and curtains. Jake pulls the curtain back exposing a triangle of light. Andy suddenly fears something not a few days ago that he's loved all his life, odd. He nervously steps forward, his toes to the very edge of where the shadow meets the light he takes on last breath and steps into the light.
Everyone applauded.

Andy busts out laughing and bows and then flips everyone off.

Jake - "good thing that spell worked after all," Andy's eyes bug a bit, "just kidding."

Andy - "OK so somebody give me the 411, what it's like to be a vampire."

Jinxx - "well if you're going off what you've heard you're sadly mistaken."

Cc - "right like holy water and crosses and churches don't do shit."

Jake - "neither does silver."

Cc - "nope that's me."

Jake - "I mean about the only thing you really have to worry about is sunlight, but as long as you have your daylight pendant that's OK OH and a stake through the heart."

Jinxx - "and I mean who wouldnt that kill?"

Everyone laughs
Andy - "I didn't even think of any of this like that I guess."

Jake - "like what?"

Andy has another chance, "all I saw is what I lost I really need to find Ashley," he looks towards the patio door........
