The moment the winds began to swirl about us, and the god, Lugh, disappeared, I closed my eyes and replaced my headdress, lest I accidentally glimpse Andy. But though I hid my gaze, I could not hold my tongue. “How could you?!? That was my decision to make-“

I heard Andy moving a bit, “-I could not let your eye be taken! I’ll not let you gash out-“

I fumed, “-But I would have still had one left, cleansed, able to see the world safely!”

Andy hesitated. “There are other alternatives yet, we will find another way. Arawn, the god of the underground kingdom of the dead, he has a temple in Wales-“

What? “-Wales?!? I have seen the maps, and that is far-flung! The three of us cannot possibly travel that distance safely! Not when I cannot see for myself and have to be led about by the hand!”

Again, there was silence for a moment as Andy struggled for words, “But Lugh has granted us safe travels-“

I began to cry as my hopes seemed to deteriorate just out of my grasp, “-Only to our next destination, not for the return journey.” I brought my hands to the fabric of my veil, embarrassed to be in tears in front of Andy.

“Wait!” I felt Andy’s hand touch my arm, and for the first time knew that my head basket had saved him. If I had not been wearing it, I would have looked him right in the eye. I felt a stab of fear for his safety as I turned my head and he kept talking. “There is another, a goddess, her sanctuary is much closer. It’s just South of my own village. But she is dangerous.“

I raised my head, curious and hopeful, “How so?”

Andy sounded nervous, “Morrighan, she is a shapeshifting war goddess, the Queen of Phantoms and Demons. She is the Great Queen, a deity of female energy, death, revenge, and war. But there is so much more to her… I admit I am afraid. She is a goddess more fond of women than men-“

I smiled to myself, “-Perfect! Surely she will see the righteousness in our quest! Let us make haste to her temple at once! When we finish, we shall not be a long journey from your village and my-“

Andy removed his hand from my arm, and I felt the loss of his touch. “-I'm not joking when I say she is dangerous, (Y/N)! She is interwoven with prophecy, sensuality, battle, and magicks! And that’s not even the half of it!”

I faced the direction of Andy’s voice, though I was careful to keep my gaze on the ground. “You made the decision for me with regards to Lugh’s offer. Let this decision be mine. I still have enough tribute to make an offering, and I plan to try and make my way to Morrighan's temple, even if I have to crawl-“

Andy sounded tired, “-You don’t have to go alone. Of course I will go with you. I could never abandon you.”

My tongue twisted on itself at hearing Andy’s words, I felt as though a flock of birds had taken flight within my chest. I forced out a reply, “Very well, then; thank you. Will you help guide me back to our campsite?”

I felt Andy’s warm hand close over mine and his touch thrilled through me. I could just barely hear him murmur, “Always.”
