Chapter 1
Lilith
A few days later was the last fitting of our gowns, I talked with Amehyst and Selene, my two closest friends. Lamia was with Daphne at the mirror, probably they were talking about their plans on going to the market, again. To be honest I thought it was a stupid idea, father had a reason to forbid us leaving the castle.
„Nymph, go get me some Ambrosia and sugar bread, now!“ Daphne commanded Maia, I saw how Amethyst rolled her eyes at this and chuckled, she always hated Daphnes attitude. „First her name is Maia, second don’t talk to her like that. She isn’t your maid. You’re a guest, so behave like that.“ Daphne rolled her eyes at that and scoffed „this is just a Nymph, a low ranked creature. Her only purpose in live is to serve us goddesses. She should be grateful to be allowed to serve me.“ Daphne smirked and flipped her hair back, like she was a Queen. Lamia laughed at her behaviour „You’re the best, Daphne“ she smiled at her and made an elegant (knicks) „I know, thank you“ then they both started to laugh loudly.
„Always the same with them,“ I sighed and shook my head. I stopped trying to discuss with these two, because it would be like talking to a wall. So I didn’t waste my time anymore but Amethyst was different then me she never gave up. She was strong, sometimes I wish that I could be like her. I was weak and always afraid to disappoint Father and Mother, I wanted to make them proud and always tried not to embarrass them, I would always be obedient and following the rules strictly. It was tiring and boring but I would never admit it loudly.
My thoughts were interrupted by the big door that was opened, Aenis, the personal tailor of the palace came in with her assistans Alania and Amali. They were fairies, the three were smaller than goddesses and had a silver glow around them, they were so beautiful and graceful, because it’s in their nature. Lamia and I followed Aenis to see our gowns while Amethyst, Selene and Daphne followed Alania and Amali.
We got to the bigger dressing room of Aenis atelier which is located in the north wing of the castle. There are also the quarters fort he servants who are working in the castle.
I sat down on the lounge chair and Lamia dissappears with Aenis behind the long silver curtain.
„Omona, Lamia. You get skinnier and more beautiful every day.“
I heard Lamia giggle at her words „stop it Aenis, you make me feel embarassed“
I shook my head sighing, Lamia never was embarassed about anything.
„This dress fits you perfectly, even if you’re fully dressed nothing is hidden. Every part of your slender and petite body is shown. Like you wished.“
Even if I didn’t see the dress, knowing my sister I could imagine how it looked. Father will get a heart attack at the ceremony when he sees her, I know this for sure.
„Lilith it’s your turn“ I stood up and walked behind the curtain. Aenis helped me in my gown and looked at me shaking her head. „Lilith, you’re so beautiful but why did you choose such a plain dress?“
I wanted to answer that I liked it simple but my lovely twin answered in my place. „Lilith likes boring things, so it was no wonder that her dress would be plain and boring.“ She laughed.
„But I have to say, you could wear everything even rags you would still look beautiful. Maybe if I tighten it at the waist area, this would compliment your feminine curves you got over the years“
I let her do everything without saying a word, Lamia was still talking about how boring I was. I had to keep my composure in every situation even when I was annoyed.
After the fitting I took my leave and wandered around in the palace garden, it was quiet here and like every other day the weather was beautiful. Shining blue sky, warm sunlight and flowers bloomming everywhere. I found some Nymphs, they were dancing and singing around the Moonlake. I watched them, they were such elegant creatures. I went closer to them but when they noticed me they curtsied and vanished quickly. I sighed walked to the edge oft he lake. I took off my shoes and dress before lying them down next to the lake, then I entered the water.
The water was cold but my skin changed, matching the temparature of my new surrounding and scales covered my legs before they melted together to a long tail that shimmered in different shades of blue, lavender rose and silver. I dived to the ground, there was a Crystal Ball that looked like the moon. It was an Oracle that only the mervolk can use and somehow I was a mermaid.
I used it a few times, it showed the past, the present and maybe when you’re lucky you could see pieces of your future but the crystal ball never showed me the future.
I touched the icy surface and the ball glowed silver and white. I saw the outlines of five persons they were black like shadows, then I saw a pair of golden eyes, they changed to bright blue eyes, they got darker and looked like a sea, they turned black and in the last change they glowed in a bright yellow. Then the crystal ball turned dark again.
I’ve never seen such eyes, the gods and goddesses I know have eye colors in the shades of silver, pink, violet or red. Creatures have eyes in different shades of brown or grey.
Maybe it has shown the future? Who are these five stranger?
