My Perfect Weapon

Chapter 13: Fear and Loathing.

Lacy walked into the apartment and threw her keys on the table beside the door. She had been a nerveous wreck all week. She couldn't forget what she saw. She wasn't even sure if she actually seen it. I mean how could she have seen him, he wasn't real.

She hadn't told Skylar about it because she was already obsessed with Andy, if she thought he had actutally become real, it would only become worse.

In truth, Lacy was scared. First Amber had been killed. And then this morning, she saw on the news that Trevor Moore had also been killed. Both were people who had bullied Skylar. She wasn't sure what to make of that. She didn't want to consider that Skylar had something to do with it, but what else was she suppose to think.

She walked into the kitchen and pulled a bottle of water out of the fridge. Then she headed into the livingroom and set down on the couch. As she reached for the remote, a deep voice came from behind her. "Hello, Lacy."

She froze. Fear crawled slowly up her spine as she slowly turned around. He was standing there in the doorway of the hall. He smiled at her. "You're not real." She said, her heart pounding.
"Really?" He said, his smile becoming a smirk. "I'm standing right here."

He walked farther into the livingroom and came to a stop in front of her. "That's impossible." she whispered. She was becoming numb with fear.

"Lacy, you're home." Skylar said as she walked into the livingroom. "And I see you've met Andy."

So Skylar could see him too. That meant she hadn't lost her mind, but that didn't deminish her fear. Skylar stood beside Andy who side stepped and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Isn't this wonderful, Lacy?" Skylar said as Andy began to plant kisses on her neck.

That wasn't the word Lacy would have chosen. This wasn't right. This wasn't normal. Frightening would have been the word she used. She was starting to hypervenilate. Andy was now lightly scraping a pair of fangs across Skylar's skin. She wasn't even flinching.

"Lacy, it's alright. You don't have to be afraid of him. He want hurt you." Skylar said. Her fear must have been showing more than she thought.
"You need to calm down, Lacy. You're going to give yourself a heart attack." Andy said to her. He was looking at her with what looked like concern. "Skylar is right. I'm not going to hurt you. Why would I do that? You're her best friend."

Lacy took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "You're really here." She said, finally accepting it. She might accept it, but it still scared her. If she was right, he had already killed two people.

"Skylar, my love, could you give us a moment alone?" Andy asked. She seemed unsure for a moment, but then nodded. She walked out of the room and disappeared toward the bedrooms.

When she was gone, Andy sat down next to Lacy on the couch. "I wish you wouldn't be afraid of me." He said gently.
"I'm not." She said, denying it
"You can't lie to me Lacy. I can hear your heartbeat. I can smell your fear."

Well, that wasn't helping. Andy sighed. "Lacy, Skylar means everything to me. I'm only here because of her. I know you don't understand it, but I do know you care about her. You've seen all the things she's been through. Can't you just be happy that she's happier with me here."
"That may be, but you've killed people, Andy. How can you justify that?"
"They hurt her." He stated. As if that made it ok.
"So you killed them? You couldn't find some other way to punish them."
"You don't know how badly they hurt her. How they made her feel."
"Oh, and you do?" She said sarcastically.
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. I feel what she feels. You don't know how many times she's thought about killing herself just to escape the pain."

That suprised Lacy. She didn't know what to say to that. She had no idea that Skylar had thought about suicide. The thought of losing Skylar, of losing her best friend, hurt. That changed things. If she had to choose between the life of her best friend and the life of a stranger, especially one who got off on tormenting other people, then the choice was clear.
