You're Never Gonna Get It I'm A Hazard To Myself (on hold for the moment)

Chapter Seven

I tear my attention away from the TV for a second, watching my Dad talk with Ashley and Andy, the latter who came in only minutes ago. He hadn't asked Ashley his question yet, he waited for my Dad to take a break to answer my Mom's question. "Hey Ash, wanna go out for lunch?" He asked gently. "Nah, I'm good thanks. I'm just gonna stay here and help Daniel." Ashley said gently smiling. Andy nods and looks around until his eyes found me, and by that time it was too late for me to look away without getting caught staring.
"Haydn, you wanna go out for lunch?" Andy asked, straightening up. I nod smiling softly, I was never one to turn down free food of course. "Yeah let me pull on my shoes and get my bag. Hey Mom, you and dad want anything?" I asked getting my shoes. "Yeah hun, just get us anything." She smiles and hands me some money. I nod smiling and put my shoes on, putting the money in my wallet. I grab my beanie and pull it on, knowing that it was gonna be cold out. "You ready?" Andy asked softly. I nod and walk out the door with him. He shivered in the cool air, "Jesus why is it so cold here..?" He mumbles softly pulling the hood up on his hoodie.
"Maybe its because we're so far up north here in Washington, not close to Oregon." I said gently. He chuckles softly, "Yeah, not like California." Andy said nodding. "Yeah its probably warm there yeah?" I ask smiling gently. "Oh yeah, really nice." He chuckles and glances at me. "Where to for lunch?" He asked softly. "Hm, how about Subway?" I ask smiling softly. "Yeah we can do that. I'm feeling sandwiches anyway." He smiles and gets in the car, turning on the heater. I get in and buckle up humming softly smiling gently. "Nice car. New?" I ask softly remembering what Ashley said about Juliet getting half of everything. "Nah, I've had it for a few years now." Andy said pulling out of the driveway.
I nod gently, then he must have been able to keep the car. "You take good care of it. Looks brand new." I smile gently. I remembered back to the day he moved in, how little furniture he had. No wonder he had gotten so upset about that scarf, he had lost almost everything. The rest of the drive to Subway was pleasant and quiet. When we got there, we both got out, locked the door and quickly walked in. "Mm smells nice in here... warm fresh bread." Andy said softly smiling gently. I nod and stand in line with him. When it was time for us, Andy let me go first. I chose a footlong of honey oat bread, six scoops of tuna, and two cookies. I got Mom and Dad their usual of an Italian foot long and Philly Cheesesteak. Andy goes next and orders Wheat bread, turkey, ham, white American cheese, lettuce, spinach and avocado with mayo. He also got a cookie. I pay for mine and my parents and let Andy pay for his.
I smile and sit with him in the store. "So, how do you like the house?" I ask softly before biting into mine. "I have to do some remodeling but.. it's okay." He said softly smiling before eating. 'And probably buy some new furniture...' I thought to myself. "So..." I bite my lip, I wanted to ask if he was okay, if he needed a friend for all this. "Yeah?" He asked softly watching me. "Why did you move from California to Washington?" I asked right out. Andy chewed his food carefully, string down at the table before he put his food down, swallowing and taking a sip of his drink before shrugging. "I don't know... guess I just needed a break from it all. Life wasn't going how it was supposed to and it was affecting everyone in my life." He said softly.
"How was it supposed to go?" I ask softly. "Perfect. I had the best job, best parents, awesome pets and a pretty good love life...but I had problems." He whispered. Before I could ask another question he straightens up. "I have a lot of problems, a lot of things I still have to get over, kicking old habits are hard but kicking new ones just started are damn near impossible." Andy said softly looking at me. "Doesn't everyone have problems though/" I ask softly looking at him. "Not the ones I have, there's a reason I don't drink anymore." He whispered.

Notes

I know washington isnt probably that cold at this time of year, but I use it to make a stark contrast to the sunny weather of california
