Intergalactic Prison

#41

This was the moment of truth. I reached out, just as I had before, and set my hand on the lining to the door panel. There was an instant where I doubted myself, when nothing happened. But ultimately the wall snicked open, “Welcome, (Y/N).”

I turned to look at Andy, victorious, and his eyes were bugging out of his head. “See, I told you! Come on!” I took him by the hand and led him through the doorway.

I gestured to the pictures of Andy all over the walls in the kitchen area, and he said nothing, just raised his eyebrows. “Do they look familiar?”

Andy nodded. “Yeah, they’re all professional photos that people have taken of me, mostly for press.”

I pointed at one of the snowflake designs I saw on so many of them, “Is this code?”

Andy shook his head with a small chuckle. “No, it’s the band logo, we call it the Mourning Star. See, you can see the B’s and the V.”

He pointed at the letters in the snowflake, and I felt a slight sense of vertigo onset rapidly. “What’s your band’s name?” It was as though I was talking through syrup, and I had to grip the counter to stay standing.

“Black Veil Brides,” I saw Andy’s lips moving slightly out of concert with his voice, and I suddenly found myself spilled over on the floor in the hallway. I felt mildly nauseated as a slew of seemingly extraneous memories started to surface. It was like they were from a different person!

Abruptly I was aware of Andy crouching next to me. “Hey, are you ok? What happened?”

I struggled as I tried to stand, tried to explain, but was too woozy to be coherent. “I, I remembered some, some stuff. I really did this, Andy, I really did. Oh my god…” I was overwhelmed, and I felt a strong headache coming on.

Andy looked concerned, “You don’t look so good, maybe you need to lie down for a while? Is this too much?” I could see him gesturing around us through squinted eyes.

I forced myself to my feet, again having to grab the counter to balance myself. “My old room is around the corner. It’s creepy as hell, but I think you’re right, I need to lie down for, for just a second. It’s just, my head…”

Andy leant me an arm to help me steady myself, and I gestured down the hall to our right. As soon as the bedroom door snicked open, Andy froze. I couldn’t blame him, the walls were plastered from top to bottom with pictures of him of all kinds. “I know, I’m sorry-“

Andy stuttered a little. “-No, it’s fine, just lay down for a minute and relax. I’ll see if I can figure all of this out.” He sounded at a loss as I moved to lay down over the bedspread that had a huge picture of Andy’s face on it.

I tugged weakly on his arm as he turned to leave, “Just give me a minute and I’ll explain everything; I already have this figured out. I’ve remembered enough.”

Andy ignored me, “I’ll be right back; just a few minutes.” I was so exhausted, I let the need to close my eyes take precedence over trying to chase him down. It would all come to light soon enough, I just needed a second to rest.

Interesting... I just may, as the dogs in my apartment complex won't stop barking and it's ruinging my concentration for writing.

They're a (and I'm quoting here) post 80's revival electronica techno goth rock band. Check out alibis or play with fire.

Forgive me, I am old, and don't know who Birthday Massacre are either, though they sound vaguely familiar.
