Maddie's P.O.V

Next day

Right now, I was heading to a meeting because of our upcoming issue, I wasn’t really focused, there were a lot of things in my mind, from my daughter’s medical condition to my reencountering with Andy, work, everything was starting to be too much and I didn’t really have the time to process everything at once, the real good news I got is that Andy was compatible to proceed for surgery, he was being brave for me and he was being brave for her and I just don’t really know how to thank him enough for that.

“Ms. Wright, there’s a delivery for you, I sent them to your office” Caroline, the receptionist said.
“Oh, thank you Caroline, I'll be right back” I said as I stood up and walked to my office, when I walked in, I found a bouquet of white roses and they were being personally delivered by Andy.
I smiled and took them, “Thank you, Andrew”
“Anything to see that smile of yours”
“How the meeting went?” I asked as I took a seat at my couch and tapped the space right next to me so he could take a seat too.
“It went pretty well”
Andy had a meeting with the label about our daughter, he wanted to include her in health insurance, his will and anything she could possibly benefit from, of course I started an argument because of this, she didn’t really need all of that but he wasn’t joking when he said he wanted to give her everything. Aaliyah was pretty spoiled enough, now with both parents and four uncles she was even more, it was really hard for us to say no to her.
“They’ll start to make all the necessary arrangements; I’m even allowed to bring her to interviews and tours”
“Do you really want her to steal your spotlight?"
“She stole my heart; she can get whatever she wants from me”
I chuckled, “Same here, buddy”
“Maddie, thank you for giving me the amazing gift of being a father”
“I didn’t conceive her on my own”
“But you had the choice between bringing her to the world and not doing so, but you did”
“Because the moment I found out about her, I loved her”
“Ever thought about having another kid?”
I raised my eyebrow, “What do you mean by that?”
“Maddie, I love you and you know that’s no secret and I-”
“Andy, you’re engaged, you’re about to marry another woman and you’re seriously thinking about having another child with me? What’s wrong with you?”
“You love me too, you feel just as guilty as I do”
“I might love you, Andrew but I respect another women place" I said. “You’re a grown man and you know what’s best for you but as well I know which are the standards you grew in and you would never leave a woman for another, I know that”
“It’s not about my standards anymore, Maddie, it’s about my happiness”
“I’m sorry but I won’t be your second option again"
“Maddie, you’ve never been a second option”
“Andy, I won’t be the woman you cheat on your girlfriend with, I’m not signing up for that, I’m okay with the co-parenting part and being friends for our daughter’s sake, but not that”

I knew my place, I was just the mother of his child, no more, no less, I was not going to break up an engagement, no.

“If you excuse me, I have a meeting”
I walked out of my office and went back to the conference room to resume the meeting. What is he even thinking about? Is he looking for a little adventure before he ties the knot? A one-night stand? What’s going on? I really refuse to be used, not today, not tomorrow, not ever.
