I'm In Love With You, Again

Maddie's P.O.V

It took me five days to actually walk up to Andy and tell him he has a daughter. When I saw him everything came back to my mind and I realized I never stopped loving this man but all I wish right now is to know if he’ll be able to save my princess.
As he was smiling and talking to Aaliyah, I decided to walk out of the room, there were a lot of thoughts in my mind and I didn’t know how to handle all of them. After a few minutes, Andy walked out of the room to answer a phone call… I just took a look at his every movement and I couldn’t help but to fall all over for him but I need to stand my ground, he’s not for me.
When he finished his phone call he walked towards me and asked, “Is everything okay?”
I just nodded.
“I have a few questions for you”
“I don’t feel like talking about anything that has nothing to do with my daughter”
“Don’t you think that we need to talk about what happened?”
I shook my head, “And I don’t want you to see Aaliyah after her surgery”
“I have rights--”
“No, you lost them a long time ago” I said.
“I never knew of her, you didn’t bother to--”
“YOU NEVER CAME BACK!”
“I WOULD HAVE IF YOU HAD TOLD ME YOU WERE PREGNANT!”
A few tears went down my cheeks.
“Maddie, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to yell” he said as he pulled me towards his chest, hugged me and kissed my cheek. “All this is new to me. I thought you disappeared, I never knew anything about you and --”
“Your mother knew”
“What?”
“Your mother knew I was pregnant, Andy”
“Why didn’t she tell me or made you stay?”
“Because I asked her not to”
“Maddie, I want to be here for Aaliyah” he said. “Let me be here for her, I haven’t been here 5 years of her life…practically since she was born”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea”
“I’m begging you” he said. “I don’t want to be an absent father anymore”
“We’re going to talk about this later, okay?”
“Why not now?”
“Because first I need to know if my daughter’s going to be okay so we can take this to court”
“Court?” he asked. “Do you really need to take this to court just so I can see and be with my daughter?”
I looked up to him, “You mean my daughter because last time I checked you weren’t here for her”
“But I’m here now and I deserve a chance”
“You had a lot of chances, Andy…”
“But I doubt you ever gave me one”
I sighed, “I don’t want to talk about this right now, please”
“You’re right; we need to focus on Aaliyah”
I looked towards the room to see she fell asleep, she had been so tired lately and she barely sleeps at night, my poor baby girl…
“She’s going to change your life, Andy” I said.
“And believe me, it’s a beautiful change”
“She has your eyes”
“I noticed, but she has your beautiful smile”
“She’s more like you actually…she’s very determined, she’s sweet, funny, she stands her ground and she’s so loving and caring”
“You’ve done a wonderful job raising her, Maddie”
I smiled as I was still looking at her figure, “I’m barely there for her, Andy so I can’t blame you for being an absent father when I’ve been an absent mother too and I’ve been letting a lot of men into her life, even when I knew they were going to break her heart”
“A lot of men who would break her heart?” he asked. “What do you mean by that?”
“I always thought she needed a fatherly figure, so I started dating but I wasn’t looking for a love interest I was just looking for someone who would make her happy”
“Maddie, why you didn’t look for me after she was born or why you didn’t tell me you were pregnant?”
I looked up at him, “I didn’t know if I wanted to have her and now that I do, I don’t want her to go through the same things I did”
To avoid keep talking about this I decided to walk into the room and he followed close behind, he decided to take a seat by Aaliyah’s bed, I went around and decided to take a seat at the other side of the bed.
Deep down I knew a war for my daughter’s custody is about to start but I’m not going to let him win, he doesn’t deserves to be in her life…after all, why will he want to be here if he haven’t been here for 5 years?
