The Great Escape
Prologue
It was raining.
Not just drizzling, not a light shower – this was serious rain: Pouring down from the heavens above and turning the world into a bizarre scene of water and concrete, light and shadow, reflections and dull grey.
Amongst this downpour walked a girl with long blonde hair, ripped black jeans, black converse and a grey hoodie. The hood was not up though, allowing the water drops to soak her from head to toe and drip from the tips of her hair into the puddles in her way.
She seemed to be wandering aimlessly and unperturbed by the torrents of rain that caused the world around her to drown. She crossed the street, looking neither left nor right, causing a car to break hard only two meters away from her. The driver swore at her and rushed off with squeaking tires as soon as Gwen was out of the way, soaking her with water from a puddle.
She hardly acknowledged any of what had happened. The universe was none of her concern at this moment – she was listening to music: her heart beating in the song’s rhythm, her mind filled with it’s lyrics, and her soul floating away with it’s melody into the cold night sky.
