Ashlandil

I went rigid at her words. I stared down at her, flexing my fingers against her skin. Her eyes dropped from mine, down to my chest, and I could see the resentment on her face. "Why?" I finally managed.
How could she... Was she getting close to all of us just so... I felt hurt.
Which I shouldn't.
But I did.
She winced as I grabbed her hair, forcing her head back so she had no choice but to look at me.
"Dammit, why?" I thundered, ignoring her flinch.
"I couldn't let him go on like that! I thought that, that if it was really bad, I would stop him from making it worse, before it was too late! I knew he wouldn't forgive me for ending his mortal life, but I would be stuck here, and that would be punishment enough!"
"You don't know punishment," I snarled at her.
She would have ruined everything for me. If she killed him, there went the fucking band, my source of income, and the ease of feeding.
She would have taken all of that from me just from some stupid love she had for someone who felt nothing for her!
And I told her as much.
I knew the words hurt, and that's what I wanted.
I would show her what punishment was.
I would make her stay here a living hell.
She swallowed. "I can't do it, Ashlandil! I can't kill him!"
"Shut up!" I snapped at her, grabbing a shirt and jerking it on. "You basically fucking used me, didn't you? You spewed all that bullshit about wanting to keep him safe from Seraphine, when you're fucking here to do the dirty work for her!"
"No --- it's not like that, I ---."
"No more!" I shouted. "I'm not going to listen to anything you have to say!"
I turned away from her furiously, feeling it in every bone in my body. I felt betrayed, something i hadnt had happen in a millenia.
I turned, and then flipped the table, the closest thing to me that I could break, it smashing into pieces as it hit the wall, and she squeaked in panic.
If I didn't get out of here I would hurt her.
Or worse.
I stalked to the door. Grounding my teeth together in an effort not to scream at her, hurt her.
I slammed the door behind me, hearing it splinter with the force.
"Ashley, wait!" she cried after me, and I glanced back, seeing the door hanging off one hinge behind her, her small form illuminated by the light.
"Please! " she begged. "Let me explain!"
"Why the fuck didn't you tell me before now?" I demanded, confronting her. "Why now?"
"Because you deserve to know about it! It's why I came, but ---."
"You should have been straight up with me in the beginning! I thought I could trust you!"
"You can!" she burst desperately. "Ashlandil, you can! I'm telling you now ---."
"Because of a guilty conscience," I snarled, taking a step towards her. She took a step back, looking frightened. "I've been taking care of you just so you could pull a little stunt like that and take everything away from me! You lied to me!"
"I didn't ---."
"Shut the fuck up!"
She flinched, and I had her backed into the corner between the wall and a bench; she didn't have anywhere to go.
I'd almost started to like her. That's what hurt the worst. "What are you so mad about?" she shouted at me, suddenly refusing to be cowed. "He would've died eventually! This would have always happened! You were just using him!" "Because I'm selfish! you're not supposed to be!" I bellowed, grabbing her arms. "You're supposed to be the good one!" "But you've been telling me ---." Her voice was hoarse.
"I didn't know what your fucking plan was," I snarled, flexing my fingers on her skin.
I hadn't been so angry in centuries
. I didn't let myself get attached, not when they would all die. Kenali was supposed to be different; she would last an eternity and I had thought --- that maybe --- I was fucking stupid, I thought bitterly.
"Please," she whimpered. "You have to understand!"
"I don't have to do shit!" I slammed her back against the brick wall, and she yelped as I held her there.
I knew it hurt, I wanted it too. I wanted her to feel the same pain I did.
"Stop it!" she shrieked, and I slammed my fist into the brickwall beside her head, some of it cracking from the force. She was crying, but I wasn't going to let that be my weakness anymore.
"Dude, what the fuck? Get away from her!" I glanced over, seeing CC had stumbled out of his room, and he was glaring. "Get the fuck off her!" he stalked toward me as if he could stop me.
"Stay out of it!" I hissed at him, keeping my eyes on her face. I was really scaring her.
"What's going on?" Jakes voice joined as he stepped outside. I growled in frustration, and shoved away from her. She slipped to the ground, curling her knees to her chest as I backed away.
God dammit.
"Don't you be here when I get back," I snarled softly at her, her eyes wide as she stared at me in fear.
"Kenna?" All the guys stepped out, hovering around her.
They could fucking have the lying bitch.
I turned, disappearing into the darkness.
