“Nothing unusual.” Jake said loudly. “Andy? Buddy? You in there?” He stepped further into the room.

“Jake, wait.” I said.

He stopped walking and faced me. “I don’t think there’s anything in here.” He rolled his eyes. “Except Andy.”

“Then what the hell is this?” I pulled the newspaper out and passed it to him. Jake's eyes widened as he read the article.

“Check this out.” He opened the door and pointed his flashlight to the far wall where a giant vertical slash appeared in what looked like blood.

I pulled the door shut and stepped away from it. “I’m staying in Ashley’s room tonight.” I started shaking. “This is weird.”

“Did Andy see the paper?” Jake sighed.

“Yeah but.” I started to say.

“He’s messing with you.” Jake opened the door again. “Andy!” He shouted at the closed door. “CC showed me the paper!”

“How did Ashley know about this room?” I questioned.

“He was probably in on it.” Jake replied.

“I had a bad dream earlier.” I started to explain.

“Jinxx had a nightmare too.” Jake smiled sardonically. “You’re both nuts.” He stepped back into the room shining the flashlight. I felt like something was watching me and turned my head to see Ashley standing in his doorway, grinning.

“You WERE in on it!” I shouted gladly to Ashley.

“Nope.” He shook his head to say no, but he was still smiling and watching Jake.

Jake let go of the door handle and the door slammed shut. I smiled at Ashley but his face had become serious.

The key card slid out from underneath the doorway, covered in blood.

“Two.” Ashley said and went back into his room. I left the bloody card on the floor and ran toward Ashley in time to have his door slam in my face.

“JIIIIIIIIIIIIINXX!” I yelled into the hallway. I stared at the bloody key card on the ground.

Jinxx appeared in his doorway. “What’s wrong?” He asked, following my line of sight to the bloody key. He picked it up and looked at the door. “JAKE!” He shouted at the door that had taken Andy and Jake away.

When Jinxx unlocked and pushed the door open I sprinted toward him as fast as I could, throwing my arms out toward him and aiming my shoulder for his waist, tackling him to the ground hard.

“DON’T GO IN THERE!” I screamed.

“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?” Jinxx yelled in my face, taking a newspaper out of his back pocket and shoving it into my chest.

It was the same paper. Same picture. Same article. “I think Ashley knows.” I took the bloody card away from Jinxx and opened Ashley’s room with it.

Ashley was sitting on the bed calmly, watching TV. “Ready for bed yet?” He asked.

I held the card in the air and stared him down.

“What the fuck is going on.” Jinxx said angrily from the doorway.

“Don’t go in that room.” Ashley shrugged. “It has weird vibes.”

“Jake and Andy are in there.” Jinxx glared at the door. We stood in silence for minutes.
