Unknown Being

"How we doing today, Mansfield," Andy screamed into the microphone. His voice rang all the way through the crowd and they erupted into cheers. "I can't hear you," he teased, "so let's try that again. How we doing today, Mansfield?!" The cheers grew deafening, even for Matt and Cat with their earplugs in. Andy chuckled, "That's more like it. You know who we are but for those who might be new to Black Veil Brides, we got Christian Coma on the drums!" The fans cheered and CC did a little rhythm on the kick drums. "Next, our resident party animal and bassist - Ashley Purdy!" Ash picked a little riff to plenty of cheers. "Jake Pitts on lead guitar and Jinxx on rhythm guitar and strings!" They played a short harmonised riff. "And then here I am, your singer and my name is…" he took the mic off the stand and held it towards the crowd.

"Andy Biersack," the crowd screamed. There were a few proclamations of love, as usual. Matt cracked up as he heard them.

"Alright, intros over. Whatever. Let's hear some music. Let's go!" CC gave the count-in with his sticks then the band launched into Set the World on Fire to begin the set.

The crowd screamed its approval and Andy smiled. The set continued with Heart of Fire and it went from there.

Almost an hour had passed and it seemed like the set was going to end soon. "Alright," Andy said. "Tradition says that we end the set with In The End from Wretched and Divine and we're still going to do that. But I'm going to change things up a little bit. Which one of you wants to come up here, take my place, and sing In The End for the rest of you beautiful people? You've gotta know all the lyrics and I damn well hope you don't have stage fright!"

"Matt, raise your hand,"

"As if you need to tell me," Matt said hotly, raising his hand as high as he could.

"Hmm," Andy started, "Let's see……How about the guy with the dirty blond hair and the Fallen Angels T-shirt up here?" Matt glowed. Andy Biersack had picked him to sing at Warped Tour. "Come on, bro. People are waiting." Matt scurried to get on stage.

"What's your name, brother?"

"I'm Matt," he said, trying to contain his excitement and nerves.

"And I'm assuming you know all the lyrics?" Matt nodded. "Then take the damn mic and sing the song for the rest of these lovely people! Go for it, Matt!" Matt grinned, doing so. He looked at the rest of the band and took a breath, eyes locked with Jinxx's for the song to start. Jinxx began the opening arpeggios on his violin and they began to sing, Matt's baritone voice rumbling as a result of the sound system. The crowd sang enthusiastically and the band responded appropriately, performing more animatedly.

After the guitar break, there were an equal amount of people singing the break into the chorus and people chanting Matt's name. They practically forgot about the rest of the members and focused solely on Matt.

The song ended and the audience's volume went up even more. They loved him. He grinned widely, adrenaline coursing through his veins, his pulse pounding. He handed the mic back to Andy. "Holy fuck! Hell yeah, bro! Let's get another round of applause for that fine performance by this fantastic singer, everyone! Give it up for Matt!" The cheers were, if possible, even louder and Matt mused that they could be hear in the city limits of Boston. "Well that's all we've got for you today! You were fantastic, Mansfield and Matt! Good night!" Matt made his way off the stage, actually getting swarmed by girls and guys alike, praising him.

"Great singing," Cat squealed. She hugged him tightly, laughing giddily. "You were so fantastic up there, Matt! Amazing!"

"We still have to meet BVB," Matt reminded her, pulling her by the hand out of the crowd. Luckily, people parted to let the new celebrity and his friend through. Matt reached into his pocket to show the guard his backstage pass…
