Psychopathic Tendencies

Meeting Him

"Don't get too near the glass. Do not let him know your full name. Try not to make direct eye-contact with him. And by God, do not let him know anything of your personal life"
The head nurse at Athens Asylum was briefing me on my first case.
"Well, how am I supposed to build up a close doctor-patient relationship" I asked.
The head nurse turned to face me.
"Okay, listen here hun. Whatever they taught you up in that college, it doesn't apply here. This is the real world. These are real-life insane criminals who have done things you couldn't even imagine" she continued walking until we came up to a heavy, metal locked door.
"Well, he's not insane until I reach my verdict" I said to the nurse as we stopped outside the door. She entered a 6 digit code on the pad beside the door and laughed at me.
"Oh hun, you have no idea what you're in for"
The door opened. I hesitated slightly, unsure of what to expect. The nurse gestured for me to enter. I stepped over the threshold and heard the door slam behind me.

The hallway was dark. The only light I could see was coming from the very end of the corridor, where his cell was located. As I walked towards the cell, my heels clicked on the cold, hard floor. I noticed a chair had been placed in front of the glass for me. The glass was maybe 8 ft tall by 8 ft wide, and I was told it was 5 inches thick.
In the cell was a metal bed, a dirty toilet and sink, a writing desk and chair, and a single light swinging from the roof
I looked closely but my patient was nowhere to be seen. He couldn't have possibly escaped. Could he? I walked closer to the glass, squinting to try see into the darker corners. A person can't just disappear while locked in a cell, can they? I pressed my nose up against the glass intrigued to see if- BANG!
Mr. Biersack had jumped out from one of the corners and slammed up against the glass. I jumped and let out a little shriek, stepping back a few feet. He laughed menacingly.
I could see him full now. Long black hair, now reaching his shoulders after months in captivity. His blue eyes that once shone bright now dark and sunken.
"Well, hello pretty lady" he grinned wickedly.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?" he asked.
"Mr. Biersack, my name is Dr. Watson and I am your assigned psychologist. I'm here in relation to your court case" I said trying not to look directly at him.
"And how did a lady as pretty as you end up in a place like this?" he asked. This is exactly what the nurse was telling me about; 'by God, do not let him know anything of your personal life' I remembered her saying.
"Mr. Biersack, I'm here to talk about you, not me" I said sternly, fixing my glasses. He was still standing close to the glass, examining me from top to bottom.
"Well then, have a seat" he said. Gesturing for me to sit down.
I took a seat and he made his way to his metal bed, lying down with his hands behind his head.
"Come on doc, work your magic" he said.
I took out my recording device and pressed record.
"This is Doctor Watson with patient Andrew Biersack. It is the 2nd of May 2020 at 3.45pm." I placed the recorder on the floor, right beside the glass so it would pick up both of our voices.
"Just pretend like that isn't there" I said to him. He said nothing back, so I assumed he was in agreement.
"So, Mr. Biersack-" I began.
"Call me Andy" he said lazily.
"Andy" I corrected myself. "How are you feeling after being imprisoned for the past ten months?" I asked, taking the questions easy first. He chuckled from his bed.
"How do I feel? Is that the best you can do?" he asked. He got up from the bed and stood by the glass again, looking down on me sitting in my chair. I have to admit, he was quite intimidating. But our training taught us never to show vulnerability towards a patient. I decided to take a different tactic;
"Okay, Mr. Biersack-"
"Andy" he said sternly.
"Andy" I corrected myself once again
"What would you like to talk about?" I asked.
"Tell me your name" he said, his eyes pierced into mine.
"I told you my name, it's Doctor Watson" I said, averting my gaze.
He placed on hand on the glass, looming over me.
"What is your full name?"
I looked back to him. He didn't break eye contact with me. He smiled wickedly and I felt my stomach tumble. His blue eyes stared straight through mine.
"Charlie-Lynn" I whispered.
"Charlie-Lynn" he mused.
"What a beautiful name" he smiled. I don't know why, but I felt myself blushing.
"You know what would make it sound even nicer?" he asked.
"What?" I breathed, my voice hardly a whisper.
"Having me whisper it into your ear while I fuck you from behind" he grinned.
My stomach flipped and I gasped a little. I was both scared and aroused. Two things I should never feel towards a patient. I tried to recompose myself. Trying to turn the subject into something useful to my investigation, I went with it.
"Do you often find yourself imagining scenarios with other woman?" I asked, trying as hard as I could to be professional.
"Oh, just quite recently" he grinned.
"And what about other scenarios? Do you find yourself imagining taking lives again" I asked. The question didn't sit well with him. He banged his fist on the thick glass and I jumped. He started to pace his cell.
"Why, why, why does it always come back to that?!" he asked agitatedly.
"Andy, you attempted to murder the singer who replaced you and ended up killing two band members and five civilians in the process" he looked at me and grinned wickedly.
"Wouldn't you?" he asked.
I thought about the question for a second.
"Depending on the circumstances, I think we are all capable of terrible things" I admitted.
He came back up to the glass, pressing both hands and his forehead against it.
"That's my girl" he said while licking his lips.
I stared into his crazy blue eyes and he stared back into mine.
Suddenly, the large metal door at the end of the corridor behind us opened. The nurse was standing there.
"Ms. Watson, your time is up" she said. She broke the trance that Andy had cast on me. Quickly standing up I collected my things.
"I'll be back tomorrow for our next session" I told Andy.
I made my way to the door.
"Can't wait" I heard him say.
Then the door closed with a loud bang.
