This Life

"Daddy! I need my hoody!" October called from where she was sat at the breakfast table. Sammie's father Harley had made some pancakes for her and sat down to drink some coffee. Meanwhile Sammie was running around trying to find his daughters hoody. It was her favourite one. She always was his Punk Princess.
He was up at 5 preparing her lunch, getting her clothes ready and then got his own things ready for his new school. He already had his schedule and things needed thanks to his awesome dad.
Harley heard a triumphant "AHA!" From upstairs and smirked. He would help if it wasn't so damn amusing, also he had to watch October so she didn't spill any food over herself, she was only 4 after all.
Sammie ran down the stairs and bowed in front of his daughter who giggled when he dramatically presented her the hoody that she so desperately needed for kindergarten. Thankfully his new high school building was joined to his daughters so Harley could drive them and they wouldn't have to worry about being late.
He picked up her batman rucksack full of everything she needed for her school day and put it next to his as he struggled to put on his Batman converses. He made sure to apply eyeliner today, it made him feel a lot more confident.
By his looks, Sammie looked like a pierced punk who listened to rock music and could easily fit into the category 'emo'. He was a grumpy person until he is with his daughter. Also he was only 4"9 so he was sometimes mistaken for a 14 year old, which pissed him off.
Sammie quickly poured and downed a cup of coffee that was in his favorite Batman mug and quickly gathered his jacket.
"Right we should go" He said looking between his dad Harley and October. Harley was dressed in his usual work clothes his blonde hair in a swept fringe. He was ready by 6, the asshole, it was now 7. October was wearing a black dress with gem-stone skulls and a black Alice band that kept her long brown hair from her face.
"October get your backpack and put your jacket on, school starts in 30 minutes and grandpa will take forever to drive" Sammie whined making October giggle. Harley scowled and pouted "Only because I refuse to drive dangerously with princess in the car" He said and Sammie sighed, pleading them to go.
Finally they arrived at the school. Sammie got out the car and unbuckled his daughter from her car seat. He knew that there would be some people thinking she was his sister or find the fact that she was his daughter weird but they knew fuck all about his past and he didn't want them to know.
Sammie grabbed both his and October's bags and then placed his daughter on his hip and shut the car door. They were in the high school part and they needed to go to the kindergarten building. He knew that he would get dirty looks from parents but he didn't care.
Sammie entered the smaller building and went to the head desk. Sammie approached a bored looking woman who looked in her mid twenties with black hair and red lips. Sammie cleared his throat.
"Hello there! Welcome to Belleville kindergarten, what can I do for ya hun, my names Lindsey?" She asked with an over enthusiastic smile, her lips painted with deep red. Sammie smiled and said "Well we were told to come to the main desk so my daughter can meet her teacher. She's just starting" He explained making the woman smiled fade then looked at October who was puling at Sammie's lip piercing absentmindedly.
"Of course, follow me." She said and walked through blue double doors. They all followed her as she did a small tour of the class rooms and explained what would happen during recess.
"I'm sure she will make lots of new friends and fit right in! Now let me just knock on
Mrs. Biersack's door." Lindsey said and knocked on a green door. After a moment there came a muffled "Enter".
They all entered a spacious room and were met by a woman with rather high eyebrows. Sammie then shook her hand when she introduced herself "I'm Mrs. Biersack. You must be Sammie and October Robin" She said with a kind smile.
"Well lovely to meet you all, class will start shortly which means you two should get to your own classes before you're late to lessons." Mrs. Biersack said kindly.
She knew the Robin's situation, she had seen it all on the news, it was horrible and October's other father's death must have hit Sammie hard.
Sammie placed his daughter on the ground and straightened her head band before kissing her cheek. "Make sure to create extra trouble for daddy, princess" He stage whispered giving his daughter a wink. October giggled and held out her pinky to her father.
"Pinky pwomise daddy. Wove you" She said as they linked pinkies and she kissed his cheek.
Sammie had to blink away tears, his baby girl was growing up and his heart filled with pride. Lindsey broke the moment by saying "Okay, can I just say Awwwww!" She said and bit her lip to contain a squeal. Ms Way smiled kindly and took Octobers bag from Sammie before waving him away.
"Amy are you sure he's 16, he is rather mature for a kid?" Lindsey asked the woman who was still holding Octobers batman bag. She nodded with a serious expression saying "With what he has been through, he had to grow up" And Lindsey nodded solemnly before heading back to her desk, waving good bye to October.
Meanwhile Sammie was walking through the crowded corridor. He too was worried about his little princess. Its been hard on her since Gary died. Sammie knew Gary since Gary was 3, and Gary was 4. They had been best-friends ever since and he had lived with him since he was 10. Gary was only a best-friend not even mates, they were best-friends with benefits. Then Sammie got knocked up with October.
The bell rang ending Sammie's thinking. Sammie both shut his lockers.
