Survival or Struggle?

Relaxation and Realizations

I'm so sorry guys! :( I've had writer's block and I think a chapter where they all get to relax is in the cards. I hope you all enjoy. :)

CC led the way to the guys, who were coming back around from a back entrance. They were washing themselves off with a hose to get all the blood and gore off of them. CC silently walked ahead of him slightly, probably to hide him so he could surprise them. Ashley just went with it, he was way too exhausted and way too weak to say anything against it. Ashley heard the hose turning off and the slight sound of scuffling of the guys turning around. He heard them all chuckle, obviously thinking something was funny.

"You gonna give us the stink eye all day or do you want to rinse off?" Ashley heard Andy ask.

CC stepped aside, smirking. As Ashley came into view, the guy's mouths dropped open. Shock and surprise was written all over their faces, relief as well. Then they all shot forward and Jake was the first one there, pulling Ashley into a tight hug. Ashley winced slightly, but hugged Jake back, pulling back to hug Jinxx and Andy. CC stood off to the side, smiling slightly and arms crossed. He looked like a bodyguard more than a drummer. As the reunion died down a bit, the others finally noticed how Ashley looked and frowned.

"What happened to you Ash?" Jinxx asked softly, tilting his head in worry.

CC's face turned stony, though no one noticed but Ashley, who was looking at him out of his peripheral vision. He wondered why CC was flipping on so many emotions. First relief and happiness, now quiet and stony. Ashley would have to figure out what was wrong with him. But right now, he'd have to answer questions. As many as he could answer anyways. There wasn't much to tell, apart from his battle to get out of the hospital that had housed CC at one point.

"It's a long story guys." he said softly, almost weakly.

CC came over to him quickly and managed to catch him by the shoulder before Ashley knew that he was falling. He gave CC a nod in thanks as CC helped lower him to the ground in a sitting position. The hospital gown was doing too much to add to the effect that he was okay. Otherwise he would have sold the 'I'm fine' line to all of them. CC must have caught onto this and squeezed his shoulder gently.

"I'll go see if there's some clean clothes for you." the drummer said, before getting up and going inside.

It was then Ashley noticed the place was filled with people. And there were apartments complexes everywhere. Shouldn't they be inside? Jinxx must have seen Ashley's expression as he was looking around, because he spoke up to explain.

"There seems to be a traitor in our midst. People have been going missing recently, just like you. They have people doing checks of all the apartments to see if the traitor is around. It might take a while." Jinxx said shrugging.

"People describe the disappearances quite clearly. Someone's left alone in a room a few minutes, be it a hospital room or something else, and they're gone by the time someone else comes along. Come to think of it, you're the only one that has come back." Andy said softly.

"Yeah, there's people here missing entire families an entire group of survivors going missing. It's something everyone's on edge about. So if they start asking questions, be sure to be ready to answer them." Jake said softly.

Ashley nodded, though he was certain he wouldn't be able to answer much. He didn't really understand what was going on at that hospital to begin with. He would love it if he knew. Or maybe it was better if he didn't. Ashley and the others heard the soft footfalls and Ashley looked up to see CC with some clothes. Relief filled him as CC handed them to him. Ashley took them gratefully and the drummer helped him up.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up." CC said softly, leading him to the back of the apartment complex.

What looked like a few shacks in a row stood before them, Ashley looked at CC, a bit confused. CC chuckled and opened the door for him, revealing a shower head, linked with a hose. A simple and shabby shower room, but it would do. Ashley heard a generator being turned on and the sound of the hose as the water came out of the shower head. CC waited a few minutes before letting Ashley in.

"Water's warm enough. But hurry though, the warm water don't last too long." CC said simply.

Ashley nodded and CC closed the door and Ashley ripped off his ruined jeans, boxers, his boots and socks and that dreaded hospital gown. He scrubbed himself as quickly as he could, noting that his injuries seemed serious, but not life threatening. So he could get some medical attention as soon as he was dressed. He knocked on the shower wall to let CC know he was done. He heard CC shout and the water turned off and CC shoved a hand in with some boxers in his hand. Ashley quickly put those on and stepped out.

CC eyed him, looking at his injuries as he got on some dark blue skinny jeans. The black socks came on next and some boots were handed to him. Ashley took them, shrugging and put them on. He was delighted that they seemed to fit and felt CC tap on his arm to get his attention while he laced up his boots.

"How did you get that?" CC asked, pointing to his collarbone that was sporting a hole big enough to fit your finger through.

"I'm not sure. Someone tried to stitch it up but did a poor job of it." Ashley said, shrugging.

CC went quiet again and handed Ashley a simple grey shirt, which he shrugged on with difficulty. CC ended up having to help him, though Ashley would never say anything like that to the others. CC tugged at his wrist and motioned with his head.

"Come on, let's get you stitched up properly." CC mumbled.

CC led the way to a nursing station at the other side of the apartment complex in the parking lot. Ashley was helped up onto a table and the bad stitching was broken apart. Once it was cleaned and stitched properly, the nurse did the same to the other injuries. After that was finished, he met up with the rest of the guys, who were talking in hushed tones. They stopped when they noticed Ashley and CC.

"What's up?" Ashley asked, concerned.

The others looked at each other and faced the other two.

"We really need to know what went on with you Ashley. You too CC." Andy said.

Ashley's brow furrowed while CC's whole body went tense.

"Guy's, come on! People are disappearing, we all need answers. We need to stop this from happening again." Jake pleaded.

"Guys, please. Just....please." Jinxx said, almost sounding like he was begging.

Ashley was about to answer when CC finally uttered softly.

"All right, what do you want to know?"

Notes

*Dun, Dun, Dun!*

And that's the end of that chapter. Really sorry for the long wait.
Like I said, writer's block. It gets to us all.
But I hope this chapter wasn't too boring for you.
The guys needed a respite from all the running and fighting and the agony.
Don't you agree?
Anyways guys, comment critique, yadda, yadda, yadda, all that good stuff.

I love you all and thank you for showing an interest in this story.
And yes, I know it's in third person. It seems if my easy default to go to.
Sorry if that irritates you. But you will let me know, yes?

Anyway guys, that's all for now. :)
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :D
