Kissing the Concrete

Chapter 3: I'm not a whore

I squeezed Phoenix' arm so tight he let out a light groan as I saw Andy and his gang walk down the hallway. I was terrified to meet them, even more so when I had friends with me. You would expect them to not harrass me when I was with friends, but usually, me having a friend with me resulted in screaming at me, and them trying to discourage the people I talked to from ever being friends with me. Name-calling and spreading false rumours were the most common.

"Feeney got herself another plaything, I see!" Ashley yelled mockingly.

"Shut up Ashley! I don't wanna talk to you!" I said.

"Oh, so you're talking back now?" Christian said. "You know that your girlfriend is a whore, right Nix?"

"For your information, we're just friends!" Phoenix responded.

"Oh yeah, just friends. That's what she always tells you." Ashley said, clearly implying that I am some sort of man-eater.

The irony is that I'd never even had a boyfriend. I guess I was just never seen as beautiful. I have always had a lot of male friends though, they were often just generally easier to handle than female friends. Not too much drama, not too much vanity. I never liked vain people, it disturbed me. Maybe because I was always the opposite of vain.

I held back the tears as best I could while I was walking to class. The tendency of implying that I am a slut is something I've never understood why my bullies had. Nix, one of the most extrovert people at the school, didn't understand why his friends would call me a whore. We had been close friends ever since middle school and gone through a lot together.

"Don't think about it."

"Urgh, why are you even friends with those douchebags?" I asked.

"Well for starters, they have beer. I don't wanna seek out older guys to buy me alcohol myself."

I laughed ever so slightly at the witty answer.

"And besides, when you get to know them, they are really chill dudes. They actually play some really good music together."

"Chill dudes? They harrass me on a daily basis!"

"I think that is just some misunderstanding. I've heard them say good things about you too." Nix said, obviously trying to cheer me up.

"Like what?"

"Eh, I don't wanna go into the details" He said, stroking his blonde hair. "Besides, they are seniors. As soon as the year is over you won't have to worry about them."

I nodded ever so slightly, pretending to believe him, hugged him goodbye and went into the classroom. Further down the hallway, I could see Andy's face turning towards me with a smirk.

Notes

Sooo, yeah. I feel like this is kind of a filler chapter, not that good, I know. Not a lot focusing on BVB either here, that will come in the near future, I promise you. I add characters as I go, I know, but it will be more structured further down the line.

And yeah, this is an Andy fic, and I think it'll be more visible later on ;)

Take care! :D
