Kissing the Concrete

Chapter 10: Charcoal

"Um... I'm sorry, I gotta go." I pushed Andy away and stood up, prepared to walk out. Andy seemed kinda shocked by my sudden descision to leave.

"Please Iris, wait!"

"Why should I? The minute I decide that you've changed, you kiss me against my will! You're all about games, Biersack. I don't know if I'll ever forgive you." I said, tears in my eyes.

"Whoah." He said. I realized he was drunk. Not insanely drunk, but drunk. He looked at me with pleading eyes. "I'm sorry, Iris. Friends?"

"Goodbye Andy." I said, slamming the door in his face.

I wanted to leave, but realized quickly that I was staying with Jenna tonight. I didn't wanna go home, what kind of friend would I be then? Instead of leaving, I went upstairs, to Jennas room, sat down on the bed and rested. I brought up my notepad from my bag, grabbed a piece of charcoal that I kept in a case in my bag and started drawing. It was all abstract at first but suddenly it all came together. A black crow, the dark feathers appearing shiny. A branch forming, constrasting the pale background. Moonlight. Darkness. It all made up a picture.

I got a text from Jenna, asking where I was. I quickly responded with "In the bedroom." Only seconds later the door opened and her familiar face greeted me.

"Now why aren't you downstairs?" She said, sounding happy and almost laughing. Behind her was Nix, his arms wrapped around her, kissing her neck.

"Because I didn't feel like it."

"Uh oh, something is wrong with Iris..." Nix said as they both moved closer to me.

I kept looking down at the almost finished drawing the whole time, slowly moving the piece of charcoal over the paper. "I'm fine, trust me."

"Iris, we both know that's girl talk for "Nothing's fine." Tell me, what happened?" Jenna said.

"Nothing. Well, Andy kissed me, I felt uncomfortable, I left."

"Whoah, whoah. That's not nothing, girl. You really need to get down there, have some fun! Meet people! Get drunk!" Jenna said, herself a bit tipsy.

"I really don't wanna get drunk. I'd rather just stay up here. Then I won't have to deal with any bullshit coming from Andy."

"Geez, someone is mad. I'm with Jenna, you need a drink!" Nix said.

"Fine. I'll have some vodka if there's soda to water it down with."

I went downstairs with the two lovebirds right ahead and hurried into the kitchen to get a drink. I decided to skip the vodka, no one would care anyway, since I already lost Jenna and Nix. What was I doing at a party when I could be at home drawing.

"Hi..." It was Andy. Again.

"Uugh, remind me again what I am doing here?"

"I'm sorry." He was clearly more drunk this time than the last time I saw him. "I'm sorry I kissed you. I didn't mean to. I just...I just wanna be your friend." He was crying, almost not able to stand up. Suddenly he leaned onto my shoulder, his tears pouring down his face.

"Okay, okay, this is happening..." I said.

"I'm sorry I'm so fucking messed up. I really like you, Iris. I don't wanna do anything to hurt you."

What the fuck is happening?

"Please don't give up on me..." He sobbed.

"Hey, hey. You need to rest, just stop talking, I'll get you some place to lie down." I said, trying to calm him down.

"Please don't leave me..."

I texted Jenna. "Hey, Jenna, could I take Andy to the bedroom? He needs some rest. I promise I won't let him use the bed."

Two minutes later I got a text back. "Yeah, sure. Don't let him do anything to you though. I think you care a bit too much."

"Thanks."

I brought Andy upstairs, sat him down leaning against the empty cream-colored wall, next to the bed. The soft carpet underneath made for a good resting place. I stood up, in an attempt to leave, but Andy grabbed my arm and held it tightly.

"C-could y-you p-please h-hold m-me?" He stuttered underneath his tears. I remembered when he held me the time he found me crying. I guess I owed him this one.

My arms wrapped around his shoulder and his head rested on mine.

"I...I just miss her so much..."

"Who?" I asked, confused of who he talked to.

"My girlfriend. She was my everything. I feel so lost without her."

I pulled him tighter towards me, and he closed his eyes. His warm breath brushed against my skin, and I couldn't help but feel bad for him. She must have really broken his heart.

As he slowly started slumbering, I grabbed the almost finished drawing from the bed. The piece of charcoal moved against the paper and continued creating this eerie world on the paper. I tried letting go of him, but he seemingly wouldn't let me. As I finally let go of the little black piece and looked at the finished product, I could hear him whisper in his sleep.

"I love you Iris. Please don't leave me."

Notes

Another update! I'm on the third page amongst the popular stories! Thank you so, so much, I appreciate it!

I wonder if this is an accurate depiction of drunk people. I myself don't go to a lot of parties, so I rarely encounter anyone who's had anything more than a glass of wine.

Hope to read your comments in the future! I truly appreciate you reading this!

And wow, 900+ views! That is amazing!
