To Be a Friend

"Okay I just need to get changed and then we're gonna have fun." I say.

"Let me help." He says.

I hop on his back again and he runs down the halls with me. He puts me down at the girls change room and I quickly change into what I was wearing before. I quickly fix my hair and makeup, and exit the change room.

"Are you hungry?" I ask.

"Very." He answers.

"Good, let's go to the old bowling alley, we can get pizza and fries, and well bowl." I say.

"Is this like a date?"

"I'm not sure what this is, I just know it'll be fun."

"Alrighty then, we'll take my car I guess." He starts walking and then I clear my throat loud enough for him to hear. "Sorry." He walks back, I jump on his back, and he carries me out to his car.

"This is a 1980s-90s Mercedes Diesel, I'm guessing." I say.

"How'd you know?" He opens the passenger seat for me.

"I just know a lot about cars." I get in and he closes the door.

"I'm sorry, how are you single?" He gets in on his side.

"Beats me." I say with a chuckle. He starts the engine.

"Well it just doesn't make sense. You're pretty, physically fit, smart, know a lot about cars, and are pretty funny. Explain yourself young lady."

"I'm a mentally and emotionally unstable psychopath."

"Uh makes sense." I punch his arm. "I'm kidding."

He drives us to the old bowling alley. We get a couple of slices of pizza and start bowling.

"So Jinxx, do you like anyone?" I ask as I roll the ball, I hit eight pins.

"Who's the girl with the bright red hair in our gym class?" He asks. I roll again and hit the last two pins.

"You like Sammi?" He rolls the ball and gets a strike.

"Yeah, I've liked her for two years now." I roll and hit five pins.

"Why haven't you asked her out yet?" I hit three more pins.

"I just haven't gotten around to it." He rolls and gets another strike.

"You haven't gotten around to it?" I hit seven pins.

"I've seen her around, but she's always with her friends, she's never alone." He gets another strike.

"Okay, how the hell have you gotten three strikes in a row?"

"The correct terminology is a turkey. And it's pretty simple. Go to the centre of the lane and take a step to the left. You're right handed, that way the ball goes down the middle." I do as he says and gets a strike.

"Thanks... Well you should ask Sammi out, she's a sweetheart from what I've been told."

"I just might. So who do you have a crush on?"

"Truth be told I'm still not over my ex, but I kinda have a thing for Andy."

"If Andy's smart, he'll ask you out."

"Let's just hope he is." We both laugh and sit down and finish our food.

"We should get going, I don't wanna miss music." He says.

"I do." I say.

"Why?"

"The teacher." We walk out to his car.

"Don't let Radke get you down."

"You'd be surprised what that man can do." Jinxx drives us back to the school and carries me to class.

The bell rings and hell begins.
