To Be a Friend

"So you and Andy." Kellin says and I glare at him.

"I hate that guy so much." I say.

"No you don't, last time I recall you have a huge crush on him."

"I had a crush on him in like the seventh grade, but he's a dick now."

"Why was he talking to you?"

"He was apologizing to me for once. It was too weird. Where are we going?"

"I'm taking you out for lunch, you need it."


After lunch, I got Kellin to drop me back off at the school to get my stuff from my locker. Today was the last day of exams for the first semester. I'm not excited for this semester, I chose music not realizing the biggest asshole of a teacher teaches it. I open my locker and grab all the notebooks from last semester, I throw them out and grab my backpack.


"Hey you're back." I hear someone say and turn around.

"Why do you care?" I ask Andy.

"Because I never got your name."

"Wow, I was in three of your classes. My name's Alexis."

"Okay I'll see you tomorrow Alexis."

"Wait, why are you so nice to me all of a sudden?"

"Let's just say I've had a change of heart. Maybe I want to be your friend Alexis."

"Since when do you want to be my friend?"

"Since today, let's hangout."

"Is this some trick Biersack?"

"The name's Andy, and it's no trick."

"Yeah I know your name, I just choose not to use it."

"Do you want to hangout or not?" He asks.

"Fine, but you're gonna hate me a lot more after today."

"Why do you have such negative thoughts about yourself?"

"Why does everyone put them in my head?"

Andy releases a sigh. "Let's go for a walk."

We leave the school and start walking down the street. "No one at this school hates you, except for Juliet." He says with a deep sigh.

"Why does she hate me so much?" I ask.

"You're kidding right? Last thing Juliet and the rest of the school heard; you have a boyfriend who's already graduated, you don't have to beg your parents for anything, and you're fucking hot."

"One, I broke up with him four months ago. Two, I don't talk to my mother. Three, I work out and wear a lot of makeup."

"Why don't you talk to your mom?" I freeze and think about what to say next. "Alexis just tell me."

"I don't want to get in trouble."

"It sounds like you're in trouble."

"I'm fine, now can we talk about anything but me?"

"Just one more question, what courses will you be starting tomorrow?"

"I have English, Drama, Co-Op Weight Training, and Music."

"Cool, we have Music together, sit with me?"

"What will Juliet think?"

"Screw her, I'm breaking up with her soon enough anyways. I'll see you tomorrow." He walks into his house.


Where am I supposed to go now? I can't go home, my mother's still awake. If she sees me, I don't know what I'll do. A walk up to Andy's door and ring the doorbell. He opens the door and leans on the doorway.


"I don't want to go home." I say.

"Why not?" He asks with a raised brow.

"Ever since my dad left, things with my mother and me haven't exactly been good."

"You wanna talk about it?" I nod and follow him into his house.
