A Melody For the Damned (Book One: We Stitch These Wounds)

We Stitch These Wounds

Andy was serenaded in the "zoned out" feeling, groaning in tiredness. He had seemed to fall asleep in the upright position. Not the most appealing, but he didn't take notice until minutes of blurred morning eyesight face down had passed. Last night was freezing in the studio, but it felt like mid-June in the room.
He pulled his groggy head up, gripping the edge of what he thought was the musty green arm chair, and glanced around. To his utter surprise; a jet black, freshly straightened, long lock of hair blocked his vision.
Since when was the last time he parted his bangs like that? When was his hair long enough to dip right below his shoulders? Andy quickly swiped the hair from his face with his dominant hand, instantly being met eye to eye with a brunette. She was seated across from him on the leather sofa, the face of ignorance. He soon recognized her presence. That bitch, a two-timing situation he refused to get himself out of until a couple months later.
"Where the fuck did you come from?" He scoffed, standing in place. She seemed taken back and looked back up at him.
"What do you mean where the fuck did I come from? I'm your girlfriend." With that, she got up and walked into the other room. At that moment, he realized where he was. It was the second apartment he'd rented. The one his now ex girlfriend would stay at for days.
But girlfriend? Now? When did she decide to come back in his life after nearly 4/ 1 2 years of getting out?
He spotted his phone on the coffee table in front of him, snatching it quickly and scrolling through his contacts. Andy collapsed back on the soa and held the phone to his ear,
"Jinxx, dude? I'm freaking out man, this mornin-"
"I know, I know. It's like we traveled back in time or something! My hair's fucked up and my guitars are missing. I'll be at your apartment in 10, bye."
That only confused Andy even more. Why was he so calm about this? Well, more civil about this. He ran his hand through unusually thick strands and began hyperventilating. Why tonight? Or morning, he couldn't think. Was his career all a joke?
What scared him the most was his current emotions towards the situation. At this point in time, he knew she'd been cheating. This wasn't even a day that was memorable enough for him to recall, and it physically felt like it burned a hole in his heart. He didn't even think of what happened, or if this moment ever existed in the past. The fact that he knew he wasn't good enough for her still hurt, and he could already feel the rage boiling in his skin. Andy already shocked himself at how much he cared about what the girl felt for him, even after years with Juliet.
That was the rage that pushed him to write the song We Stitch These Wounds.

Glancing back at the shiny chrome phone once more to check the time, he realized it was 12:17am. So he woke up at 12:00am exactly? It seemed suspicious, but then again, everything that's happened within the last 17 minutes was making him anxious. His outfit had changed overnight as well. Stripped combat boots, a tattered leather jacket, ink black highwaisted leggings, and a navy blue vest that had the words "Fuck You" distressed near the hem.
Moments later, Jinxx opened the door with a concerned look. His hair was teased to the max, equipped in full leather.
"I'm afraid, Andy. This isn't right, i'm not thinking straight. You're a figment of my fucking imagination for all I know.."
"Jinxx, i'm real. I'm alive, and i'm going to have a damn panic attack if you continue to scream your brains out!"
Just as Jinxx was about to open his mouth for another snarky response, the door behind them blew open hard enough for the brass handle to dent the wall. The girl with a nest of dark brown hair scowled at them.
"Andy, sweetie, can you please quiet you and your little friend down?"
Jinxx's expression contorted into terror and disgust.
"What the?! You're that cheating ass woman, aren't you? What is this?" Andy clenched his jaw at his friends discovery, already hitting him with annoyance that was already clearly stated. Out of nowhere, his blue eyes spiked into a cold, shearing stare that directed his bandmate out the door in anger and confusion. Jinxx's face dawned pale.

As the door that lead out of his 2nd floor apartment clicked shut, Andy's eyes were trained on the girl. The twisted pain hurled deep in his throat again, the emotion he thought he'd never experience again.

"I'll ask you again, what the fuck is your cheating ass doing here?" He spoke sternly, turning his body.
"You get the hell out of my apartment! I'm sick of your fucking games, I want you out of my life. GO!"
Andy raised his voice to a raw yell, visibly startling the brunette. He was pissed, he was angry, and he fucking confused about why he still gave the slightest bit of emotion towards the situation.
"But baby I-"
"Don't call me baby you fucking liar!" He released a growl beneath his throat, but his ex was already across the room and out the door before he could finish his sentence. Andy body shook in anger, so mad that his eyes were brimmed with fresh tears. Before he could even move an inch from where he was standing, the front door creaked open. He turned his heel in the wooden floor and was almost instantly overfilled with joy.

"The tears we've cried, this love has died,
You're by yourself here tonight.
It's what we hide with every lie,
And stitch these wounds with me tonight!"
