I Was So Bitter, Till You Came Along

Dinner was... interesting. We were all crowded around the table; somehow, my mom got fourteen of us to fit, so kudos to her. I was seated beside John, and across from Andy. He wouldn't look at anyone, but that was the least of my worries.

"So... Casey... mind telling us a bit about yourself?" One of mom's friends asked me. I looked up and over at her, and I set my fork down, clearing my throat as well.

"Sure... well I'm eighteen, and I just graduated from high school several months ago," I started off, watching as everyone looked at me.

"That's great! Do you have any career choices yet?" I grimaced.

"No, not quite yet. But I did work over the summer with Ashley and his band. But I wasn't getting paid for it because it was mostly volunteer work," I said. Ashley eyed me, as if he dared me to continue on about the band.

"What kind of work was it?"

"It was selling merchandise. It was very easy, and I enjoyed doing it," I said. Mom's friend nodded and smiled at me. I picked my fork back up and took a bite of my food.

"So, do you have a boyfriend?" I nearly choked on my dinner, swallowing it with great difficulty. I looked up at Tyler, whom had asked the question, and I set my fork back down.

"No... But I did," I said, glancing at Andy. He glared at me from across the table, and I looked back at Tyler.

"What was it like?" He asked. I furrowed my eyebrows and took a deep breath.

"Okay! That's enough of that!" Ashley laughed as he stood up. He wiped his face with his napkin before setting it down, and he looked at me.

"Casey, Andy, can I talk to you both?" Ashley asked, and the two of us followed him into the living room.

"What?" Andy asked.

"Just... make up. Hug, kiss. Do whatever. I just don't want you guys at each other's throats. You two were great together until shit hit the fan and whatnot. I hate to say it but I miss you two together," Ashley said. I slumped my shoulders and stared at Andy, who stared back at me. Ashley left us to it, and Andy and I stared at each other for a few seconds longer before he pulled me into a hug.

"Why didn't you call?" I asked him as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I don't know. I just didn't," he said. I sighed and hugged him tighter.

"I'm sorry. About everything," I murmured as we pulled away from each other.

"I am too. Can we just clean the slate? Start over?" He asked. I smiled and nodded.

"Yeah," I said, and Andy pressed a kiss against my forehead. As much as I wanted to be mad at him, I couldn't bring myself to do it. He was too sweet, and I missed him. I wouldn't care if we got back together or not. Him being my friend was all I needed.

We returned to dinner, and everyone eyed us. Especially John.

After dinner and dessert, all of mom's friends left, leaving just me, her, John, and the whole of Black Veil Brides.

"We're gonna get going. We've got a show to play tomorrow," Ashley said. I nodded and hugged them all goodbye, and they left, leaving John.

"So... you and Biersack. You guys getting back together?" John asked, his hands in his front pockets. I glared at him as my mom cleaned the kitchen up.

"No. We're just friends, John. Are you jealous?" I asked. He shrugged his shoulders.

"I dunno. I just thought that, since we kissed and all-"

"John, you're killing me here! I'm not getting back together with Andy," I said. I crossed my arms, and he did too.

"Do you want to be with me, darlin'?" John asked.

"Of course I do," I said, "just scared is all."

"There's nothing to worry about," John said. I let my arms drop with a sigh.

"Okay," I said. John smiled and stepped forward.

"We'll talk tomorrow. I'll be seein' ya," he said, and he kissed me delicately. I showed him out, and I closed and locked the door behind him with a sigh.
