I Was So Bitter, Till You Came Along

Two

My second week at school wasn't any better than my first; although I knew my way around finally. I had yet to make some friends, and I'm sure Ashley was concerned about my ability to make friends.

I was on my way to lunch when I looked down for just a second, and I bumped into someone. I looked up, ready to get yelled at or maybe shoved out of the way. But that didn't happen.

"I'm sorry," I said quickly. He chuckled and shook his head.

"No, it's okay. I'm Sammy," he said. I smiled.

"Casey," I replied softly.

"Do you want to join me for lunch? I kind of have no friends... well, I do, but they're not in school anymore," I rambled. He grinned.

"I'd love to. I don't have any friends myself," Sammy said. I smiled, and I followed him to the cafeteria. He bought his lunch, and we walked to a vacant table outside on the square all the seniors hung out at. We both sat down, and I pulled my lunch I'd packed this morning out of my backpack.

"What do you have?" Sammy asked as he took a bite out of his chicken sandwich he'd gotten. I didn't get the chance to answer, because someone walked up to us. I looked up at whoever it was.

"This table is reserved for seniors only." The girl was definitely shorter than the both of us.

"Well, if you didn't know, I am a senior," I told her. She scoffed.

"Then show me your ID," she said. I pulled out my wallet, and I pulled the card out of its designated pocket, handing it to her. She rolled her eyes, huffed out a 'whatever', and turned to Sammy.

"Yours too," she demanded. Sammy looked at me as he pulled his wallet out as well, and he handed her his ID. She clicked her tongue, and handed it back.

"You're only a junior," she said, "you can't sit here."

"Excuse me? But, he's my friend. He stays," I said. She rolled her eyes at me.

"Whatever you say, newbie," she said, and she walked away with a sway of her hips. I looked at Sammy, and rolled my eyes. Some people.

"You mean that?" He asked.

"What?" I asked as I pulled out my sandwich.

"That I'm your friend," he said. My expression softened, and I reached across the table to take his hand.

"Of course. I wouldn't say that and not mean it. I haven't had friends my whole life, and I know what it feels like to be alone. You're my friend, whether you like it or not," I told him. He smiled wide, and I retracted my hand so I could eat my lunch.

After school, Sammy and I departed when Andy pulled up in front of me.

"I'll see you tomorrow!" I called after him, and I opened the passenger door, sliding in and setting my backpack on the floor at my feet.

"Hey. How was school?" Andy asked as he pulled out behind a corvette. I smiled.

"Good. I made a friend," I said. Andy made a noise of excitement.

"You did!?" He exclaimed.

"Yeah! His name is Sammy, and he's really nice," I said.

"That's amazing, Casey! I'm so glad! Do you have any homework?" Andy asked.

"None of my teachers assign homework, and I'm totally okay with that," I told him. Andy chuckled.

When we arrived home, there was an old couple sitting in the living room with Ashley. I dumped my backpack by the door, and I cautiously entered the living room.

"Oh! Casey! Come here," Ashley said to me, and I did as told. I sat next to Ashley, quite confused as to who these people were.

"Casey, meet your grandparents on dad's side," Ashley said. I smiled shyly, and I took their outstretched hands, shaking them.

"Hi," I said awkwardly.

They looked extremely overjoyed to have met me finally. They were very nice, and I was a little disappointed when they left. But, it was guaranteed that I'd see them again numerous times.

"You grew up with them, right?" I asked Ashley, and he nodded.

"Until I graduated from college. Then I left," he said. I smiled and nodded.

"Well, I'll be in my room. Call me when dinner is ready," I said, and I left Andy and Ashley sitting alone in the living room. But I was joined minutes later when Andy entered my room with a present. Three presents, actually.

"Hey. What's, that?" I asked as he closed the door behind him.

"Why don't you find out? Open them," he said. I took the biggest one from him, and he joined me on my bed. I tore the wrapping paper off, crumpling it up and throwing it at Andy. He laughed and threw it back, and it hit me on my cheek. I threw it on the floor, looking down at what he'd gotten me.

"This better not be clothes or I swear I will cut you," I told him as I stared down at the Xbox One box. Andy chuckled.

"Go ahead and open it," he said. I opened the box with a little help from a pair of scissors, and I grinned up at Andy.

"You shouldn't have," I said. He shrugged and handed me the medium sized box. I took it, unwrapping it as I stared at him.

"Can't play an Xbox without controllers, am I right?" Andy asked when I got all the wrapping paper off. There were two controllers, each of them in an individual box.

"This must have cost you a fortune. What were you thinking!?" I asked when he handed me the smallest and final present. I opened that one, and I wasn't surprised to find six games staring up at me.

"Guitar Hero three, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the first Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto V, and of course Fable III," Andy said as he showed me each game.

"How am I supposed to play Guitar Hero without a guitar?" I asked. Andy nudged my shoulder.

"Just say thank you!" He said whilst laughing.

"Thank you. But, Andy?" I asked.

"What?" He asked.

"Well.... how am I supposed to play Guitar Hero without a guitar?" I asked. Andy just set the games, controllers, and the Xbox on my nightstand before tackling me and straddling my waist. He started to tickle me, but I wasn't ticklish. Where he was tickling anyway.

"Fuck. You're not ticklish?" He asked. I smirked.

"Nope." Andy just pinned me to my bed, his face inches from my own.

"It's a legit question!" I squealed when he actually found my ticklish spot, and I couldn't stop laughing.

"Andy!" I managed to get out between my laughter. I tried to bring my knees up to my chest, but I accidentally kneed Andy in his junk, and he fell back on my bed with a groan. I quickly stopped laughing, taking deep breaths to calm myself down.

"Oh my god. Are you okay?" I asked, feeling extremely embarrassed. Andy just started laughing, and he pulled me against him so I was laying on his chest. Our laughter slowly died down, and I was left staring into the crystal blue orbs he called his eyes.
