BITE

I was in the library tapping my pencil on the table. Andy was off with the allies in some secret fortress. That left me alone and vulnerable. my eyes anxiously traced the already memorized painting. it was of Marie Antoinette her porcelain like face was staring at me with her dead blue eyes. in some of the other paintings she was depicted with purple or red eyes. she was well is still a vampire. her children died of blood poisoning. she is now one of the oldest of our kind, right after Andrew. i don't know why but that picture made me feel relaxed. slowly i traced the feathers in her hair with my eyes and i drifted off into oblivion of sleep.
i was shaken awake. i smiled slightly expecting it to be Andy and when i opened my eyes i screamed it was Justin. he sat there looking a bit hurt as i pulled back and made a distance between us.
"i came up to tell you we need a mural. we may have cleaned the streets and gone back into hiding but we need an unknown face to change the way the world sees us. since you are an amazing artist i figured you'd like to do it" he wasn't asking. it wasn't a choice.
"how did you know i was an artist. i only started after you quote unquote died." i didn't say that his death was the inspiration that started this all.
"Andy mentioned it once or twice while we prepared for total lock down earlier this year." i blinked total lock down status happened forty years earlier. not earlier this year.
"That happened forty years ago." i said quietly. he has time disorder. that is the beginning to blood poisoning.
" it did how odd. well either way you grew up to be an artist we need one you're the one we can trust. right?" he raised his eyebrow at me and turned his head to look at me in a different angle.
"of course you can." i did my well practiced fake smile and continued "what is it i need to do?" i said it with the same tone and practice that an airplane stortess would be jealous.
"go down town and find the painters stand get whatever you need tag it to our account and find the wall next to the old baptist church. go wild and crazy and be back before dawn. it'll be fun for you." he was the older brother that he was supposed to be for a second but i knew something was up.
"okay. I'll be back in three hours. see you then." i smiled again and left the library i skipped down the stairs and out the doors. i had to keep the act up until i was out of sight of the palace. the ivy fence covered me. and i dialed Andy.
the palace was where king Louis XVI hid in the French revolution and where Marie Antoinette where ruled through her mind powers till i started the vampire rage.
Andy picked up and i said quickly before he could say hello "I've been sent to paint a mural on the south side of down town next to the old baptist church. don't go home go meet me on the steps of the church so we can make sure its safe."
i hung up and went to the painters stand and picked up some spray paint. i tagged the three hundred dollar charge to the palace and i made my way to the baptist church and sat on the steps waiting for Andy.
an hour past
two hours
three hours.
no one was there. the sun was peeking over the horizon when i decided to just do a quick paint and get home before the humans come to kill me.
i did a galaxy and put a moon with a star dangling from it. then i ran home fast making sure to stay out of sight. when i got there i ran inside locking the door. i turned around to see Andy smirking at me. "what the hell where were you!" i whisper yelled
"i searched the area prior to when you got there." this wasn't Andy. Andy would have been there anyway. i smiled and let him kiss me. i place my hand on the back of his neck and let the port bot drop to the floor. i rolled my eyes and made my way upstairs. my idiot brother over looked the fact that my vampire pet designed these 150 years ago before he died.
