It's Nothing
chapter 3
“how the fuck does this work?” I asked, feeling a little less than manly holding a handgun and twirling in around in my hand.
“well we need ammo so we have something to shoot, princess” Chance rolled his eyes at me.
“hey I’m not a princess” I said.
“says the one wearing makeup” Chance said sarcastically “c’mon how can you not know this stuff, did you not learn anything from the hours upon hours of Call Of Duty?”
“C’mon that game does everything for you all I did was press buttons to navigate” I said in defense.
“whatever” Chance rolled his eyes at me “okay Sweeney (if you get that reference you win a free invisible cookie), lets go get the bullets out of my basement” He said leading me to the door.
“you watch out while I go get it, okay?” I nodded and stood by the door while Chance went to get the bullets.
“Shit Andy get the fuck nuggets down here!!” Chance yelled.
“That sounded wrong, and language” I said as I went down the stairs and stopped dead in my tracks at what I saw.
Lying on the floor surrounded by a puddle of blood was a little girl that looked like a dead zombie, if that made sense. I had no idea how she got there but Chance looked pretty traumatized.
“dude are you alright?” I asked starting to get worried about Chance, he just shook his head.
“I’ll just get the bullets and let’s go” He said, I silently agreed and we went back up the stairs, Chance stayed silent.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” I asked again.
“yeah” He muttered.
“No you’re not” I said not believing my best friend.
“how would you know” He asked.
“because you’re being quiet, you’re never quiet” I said, he glared at me sarcastically.
“fine no I’m not okay” He said.
“was it that thing downstairs?” I asked.
“That sounded wrong” He giggled.
“You’re a twelve year old, that’s my Chance now lets go back to my house and kick some zombie ass” I said and pretended to point the gun at the empty air.
“Yeah because you’re oh so threatening” He said mockingly, I glared at him.
“You’re just jealous” I said as we reached his car.
“About what? The fact I don’t wear tight pants and makeup?” He teased.
“You just couldn’t pull it off” I said and sat in the passenger seat.
“Sure” He said sarcastically and we started driving to my house. The ride was in a comfortable silence, it’s not like we could try to get to know each other, I’ve known him since I was four and he knows literally everything about me and me him. the drive was scarily quiet outside though, I looked out the window and saw overturned cars and trashcans it looked like there were literally no more people in the town, as we drove around. We pulled into my driveway and quickly ran into my house locking the door.
“now what?” I asked.
He shrugged “we wait” I nodded and we sat on my couch not knowing what to do next with guns in our hands.
