My Midnight Stalker

Starting to learn

Ava's pov

The journal was full of information. Apparently you have to chop of a vampire's head to kill them..... No wooden stakes.

Salt is actually very useful. It can prevent demons and ghosts from getting into your house, or help save you if one is trying to kill you. All you have to do is make salt lines around the window sills and doors in you house, and make a salt circle around you.

Demons were another story. Scary black eyes and they don't always tell the truth. Layla is constantly talking about them, and how she can save CC.

Layla is a witch, but she uses hexbags, not magical wands. Some of the hexbags contain bones or ancient old stuff. That would explain what I saw the other night. It's kinda creepy. In order to kill somone with the hex bags, you have to put one in the targets home.... It's pretty confusing. It's be easier to just kill them head on if you ask me, but I guess there's no fun in that.

Shapeshifters are creatures that can change into any person. They do this weird morphing stuff and leave behind old body skin and parts. I think you kill them with silver.... I'm not sure.

The journal changed all my earlier conspiracies about the supernatural.

I wasn't even half way through the journal, and was tired of reading. It was interesting, but not real enough. I just couldn't believe it,

I headed over to the fridge to grab a beer. Sam was busily typing and writing things down. Layla came into the room and pulled out her phone.

"Layla, any demonic omens lately?" Sam asked, looking up from his computer.

"Not that I've seen or heard of." She replied. Demonic omens..., I think those were like signs or something. Cattle dying or a lot of storms. Or maybe both....

Sam's phone rung and he hurriedly answer it.
"What's going on Dean?" I couldn't hear what Dean was saying, but It didn't sound good, cause Sam tensed up. Sam grabbed his coat and hung up the phone. "Dean found something." Enough was said. I was going on my first hunt!

Sam walked out to the Impala that Dean had left here just in case. He opened the trunk and handed me a knife. "I have my own." I said.

"This one is special. It can kill demons." Layla glared at Sam. "But not CC." He finished. Layla pulled out her own knife and Sam handed her a gun, but not me. I understood why. We got into the car and he drove off to the bar in town, the one that I worked at. It wouldn't be open, I didn't see why he was driving there. It was like 1 in the morning.

Dean was leaning against the door while Ashley was nowhere to be found. "Where's Ash?" I asked worried, as soon as I got out of the car. Dean pointed to a dark corner where Ashley was making out with a girl. I called him over and the girl glared at me. He whispered in her ear and she threw on a pouty face. He walked her over to us and she smiled.

She was wearing black tights with holesin them, a short, very short, pink crop top that was almost see through, black stripper boots, and a bunch of makeup.

I frowned disapprovingly, knowing that Ashley could do better. "This is Veronica."

Veronica saw my frown and stepped forward. She opened her mouth and a set of fangs appeared. "Got a problem with me?" I screeched and swung out my knife at her. It slit her throat, but not enough to kill her.

And listen to me. I know I' m not a hunter and everything, but I just learned 1 thing.

NEVER, EVER, touch a vampires throat with a knife, unless you plan on chopping the head off with it. Let me tell you, she was extremely pissed. Never fuck with a vampire.

Blood oozed from her throat and she gasped at me. She jumped out at me and I screamed even more.

I fell back and she was on top of me. My eyes were closed and I was prepared to become one of them, or her food. I waited a couple of seconds, but nothing happened.

I opened my eyes and Ashley was standing there with a long sword. I threw the headless, dead body off of me and turned around. Out came my breakfast, lunch and dinner. I could see Dean shake his head through the corner of my eye. "What the hell just happened?" I asked. Nobody answered. They were just shocked and so was I.

Layla ran over to me. "Are you ok?" She asked.

"Well, I hope your ok to continue, cause this wasn't what Ashley and I were going to show you. There's more." Dean said, pointing to behind the buildings . I stood up, wiped off my mouth, and picked up my knife.

"I-I guess I'm ready."

"You're going to need some work." Layla looked at Dean and frowned.

"This was her first time. Cut her some slack. If I remember correctly, you were like her when you first started this business." Layla replied.

I walked over to Ashley and looked at his sad face. "Thanks for saving me."

He recomposed and smiled. "It was nothing." I looked into his eyes and could still see the sadness.

"Was she your mate?" I asked, remembering about vampires having mates and nests.

"Was going to be." He stroked my hair. "But you are far more important."

"Ashley, you could of done better anyway." I said truthfully.

"You're right. I can." He gave me a kiss on the forehead and walked away. I shivered and stared at him as he walked away.

He never did that before. Was he changing?

"Ava, are you coming?" Dean asked, annoyed. Everybody was waiting at the entrance of the ally that went around to the back of the building. I ran over to them, careful not to step on the head. Sam and Dean had flashlights on.

Dena stopped and shined the light on a body. I gasped and gagged. "Don't you dare throw up any more food." Dean scolded. The body had claws on it and a huge spot was dug into the chest.
Dean walked over to it and muttered something I couldn't hear. Sam and Dean started to talk about the body while I looked at the dead man. It was sad. Poor guy. How did they manage this job?

"Well this wasn't here before, so there's werewolf on the move." I looked at Dean with my mouth open. Werewolf?

Ashley saw my confusion and explained. "Crash course. Werewolves are people in day, werewolf at night. Sometimes they don't know it. They always take the heart from the body. Their weakness is silver. Silver knife, silver bullets, whatever." Ashley quickly said. "Well unless they're a pure blood werewolf. Then they can change to werewolves whenever they want, most likely at night, and will remember when they kill people. But, there are hardly any pure blood ones."

"Freaking great." Layla muttered.

"We wanted to show you this." Dean walked farther out and shined the light on another body, this time a women. There were 2 holes on the side of her neck. As Dean moved the flashlight down her body, I saw several places where blood was oozing out, places where a vampire had gotten her.

"We could be close to a nest, Dean. We have to be careful. As you can see, this lady was vampire food." Sam said, pointing out the obvious.

Then a door blasted behind me, pieces of wood flying everywhere.

"DUCKKK!" I screamed. I ducked as a big chunk came at my head.

A man in a long trench coat stepped out with another man behind him.

"I heard you prayers, Dean." The man said.

"Castiel." Dean muttered.

"Jinxx?" I asked confusingly as the guy behind Castiel stepped out. What in the world was going on?
