Free Bird

It has been a few weeks since I ran away from Amelia. I have not seen her or Chris, thank God! I don't know what I would do or say if I ran into either one of them. I wouldn't have the strength to tell Amelia, or the courage to stand up to Chris. I stay in my room unless I have a class or work. I focus on my homework and that's all.
I dont owe you anything.... right on cue.
"Hello?" I answer
"Just checking in to see how you are." Ashley says, for the tenth time today.
He has made it a regular thing to call me every 30 minutes to an hour to see if I'm okay. I remember I was sitting in my English class and forgot to turn the volume off. That was an interesting conversation...
"I am fine babe, I told you, I don't leave my room."
"I'm sorry I worry about the one woman who can change my life."
I smile just as there is a knock on the door. I panic, and slowly get up.
"Someone is at the door"
"Go check, I'm right here on the phone for you babe"
I open the door to see a huge bouquet of roses and a teddy bear. I look around to see who left it, but nobody is in site. I figure they must be for Shay and bring them in the room. When I close the door, I hear Ashley say...
"Who was it?"
"I don't know, someone just left a bunch of flowers and a teddy bear, probably for Shay"
"Well is there a card?"
I look everywhere for a card, in the flowers, on the bear... "nope. not that." Just then I spot a piece of paper on the floor by the door. Did I drop that? I open it to see in bright blue letters 'OpEn ThE dOoR' I freak out at the writing, because it looks like serial killer writing, but since Ashley is on the phone with me I decide to. What's the worst that could happen? I open the door and see someone I was not expecting.
"SURPRISE!"
