Free Bird

I don't know what happened after the first couple of hits. I was already weak from the beating in the broom closet. I can't see anything, but I hear a faint beeping sound, so I hope that's a good sign. I try to move my hand, but I don't think it even flinched. I am to weak to speak, so I just layed there until the beeping faded away...
I awoke with a jolt! The beeping noise from earlier, now much louder and clearer filled my ears, and I tried to open my eyes this time, but I could only open one. I looked around me at my surroundings. White ceiling, white walls, white everything! Realizing hit me and I knew that I was in the hospital, so I called the nurses station, and a nurse appeared almost immediately.
"Thank heavens you're awake! We were all so worried about you!"
"Wh, why can't I open my eye?" I ask with a shaky voice
"Oh honey," she says, her eyes getting glossy, "your eye is open, its blind."
