My Fallen Angel

Chapter Eighty-Two: Long Conversation

Ashlandil

What was Kenali doing?
I could see her in the wings, standing with Geneva, who had a really dazed expression on her face that told me exactly what Kenali had done to her.
Oh god, now she was going to talk to Kennedi.
I almost swallowed my microphone in horror.
Andy glanced over at me from where he was moving around the stage, and then his gaze followed mine, and he almost blanched; I had to give it to him, at least he didn’t stutter.
Don’t fucking kill her here, I thought, wishing for once Kenali could read minds. If she killed her here we'd have to run off because I would never be able to cover up something as public as that.
Hopefully she wasn’t still in a mood.
And when I'd told her to watch Geneva, I hadn't meant bring her here, i'd meant just to, like, tail her something, make sure she didn’t get into trouble.
Why did she never do as I asked?
Or manage to twist it around so badly?
Andy finished the next couple songs admirably, gave a bow to the crowd and wished everyone well, and then the both of us bolted off the stage before anyone else could move.
"Kenna!"
"Kenali!"
She looked over at the both of us where we stepped towards her, looking startled. She was standing beside Geneva, who was starting to look a little more like herself now that Kenali wasn't enamoring her.
"What?" she asked, twirling a long lock of her hair around her finger absently, my eyes following the motion. We both hesitated, then looked at each other before back at her.
"Where's... Um..." Andy trailed off, looking uncomfortable.
"Kennedi?" Kenali raised her brows, and then pointed. "Your little girl is over there with her bodyguard. Nice man, that one. I think we know one of his parents."
"Kenali," I growled, grabbing her arm. "What are you doing?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," she pulled away from me.
I glanced over as Andy hurriedly went to where his human stood, she giving him a brilliant smile as she turned to him.
"You know," Kenali sounded pleased with herself, "he called my name out when he was sleeping with her."
I rolled my eyes; I didn't doubt her ... I didn't doubt sleeping with Kenali could ever be forgotten compared to an inexperienced human.
And it was obvious Kennedi was inexperienced; I could almost smell it on her, she still had so much innocence.
"Here's Geneva, by the way," she said, directing my attention back to her. She turned her palm as if she was pointing out a gift to me. "I didn't know what you wanted me to do with her."
"I wanted you to make sure she didn't walk out into traffic not bring her here." I huffed, Geneva turning to look at us, her confusion starting to wear off.
"Ashley?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
Kenali shrugged her shoulders. "You weren't clear on it, you know."
"I didn't realize I had to be," I sighed, turning to Geneva.
I really didn't want to have any kind of conversation with her.
I wanted her to leave me be so I could do the same to her.
I turned to Kenali, but she wasn't looking at me anymore. I followed her gaze, seeing she was watching Andy and Kennedi, a sad expression on her face.
She really did love him.
"Hey," I reached out, turning her face up to mine. "Let's just get out of here, okay? We'll drop Geneva off and ---."
"No," she shook her head, pulling away. "No, just, um --- just take her, okay? I --- I have some stuff to do." she muttered, stepping away from me hastily. "I'll meet you back at the hotel."
I hesitated, but nodded, watching as she took off, pausing only to speak to Cronus, who nodded immediately when she touched him, a sad smile on her lips.
She'd told him to keep Andy and the human girl safe, and of course he'd agreed after she'd touched him; her touch was beyond intoxicating, even to angels like us.
She was intoxicating.
"Ashley?"
I turned my attention back to Geneva, seeing she was finally herself again.
"Hey. Nice of you to visit me at my concert," I mumbled, looking down at her. "What a surprise."
"I --- yes," she frowned. "Kenna, she --- where did she go?"
"She had to leave," I said lightly. "Give me a minute to get my things and I'll take you home, okay?"
"O-okay."
I sighed as I stepped into the dressing room, grabbing my bag off the floor and hefting it over my shoulder.
"Where are you and the ginger going?" CC asked, sounding disapproving.
"I'm taking her home," I muttered, tugging a different shirt on quickly, aware how sweaty I was.
"What about Kenna?"
"What about her?"
"Where'd she go?"
"Fuck I don't know, CC, just call her If you're so worried about her," I snapped, wondering what his sudden deal was. I turned away from him quickly and stalked to where Geneva stood, grabbing her arm and pulling her after me.
She huffed, having a hard time keeping up with me as I dragged her onto the street and in the direction of her house.
What was Kenali thinking, bringing her to me?
Was she trying to be cruel?
She knew how I felt!
"Ashley, slow down," Geneva pulled on my arm, and I forced myself to slow. "I'm really out of shape here."
"You're shape is perfect," I muttered thoughtlessly as I turned to look at her.
She blushed, and looked away quickly. Then she took a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever conversation she had in mind.
"Look, I'm not going home, okay? We need to talk, and --- we can't there. Are you ... Are you back with Kenna?"
"No."
She looked relieved. "Oh. I just... She was in your room and..."
"Yeah, hers... Was messed up." Well, we'd kind of broken it, if I was being honest.
But Geneva didn't need to know that.
"My... My newspaper rents a room At the hotel," she said after a moment, staring at her feet. "Can we... Can we talk there?"
She wanted to be alone with me in a room with a bed?
"You really don't want a white wedding, do you?" I chuckled at her, and her face went crimson.
"I'm not going to sleep with you!" she hissed up at me, abruptly defensive.
"But you've thought about it," I grinned down at her, seeing her face become impossibly red. "Admit it. You want to know what all the fuss is about."
She bristled, her lips pressing tightly together as I embarrassed her.
Maybe this would make her mad enough where she would change her mind.
She huffed at me, crossing her arms. "I know what you're doing."
"Do you?" I tugged on her hair.
"Yes. You're trying to embarrass me to get out of the conversation. You're not as clever as you want people to believe."
My lips twitched.
"All right then, Miss Ginny. After you."
"What?"
"You wanna go back to the hotel? Fine, let's go," I shrugged, starting in that direction. "Well see if you want to talk then."
Maybe talking about sex would scare the little virgin away.
She caught up with me after a minute, and I sighed internally as we trooped towards the hotel.
Fuck
After twenty minutes we were there and riding the elevator, a tense silence building between us.
Her hotel room was on the same floor as the rest of ours, just in the back, so at least I could get to my room pretty quick when this went south.
I followed her to the room, she quickly swiping the key card and letting both of us in, sending me a nervous look over her shoulder.
I chuckled, dropping my bag on the floor as I walked over to the small table set, throwing myself down in one of the chairs.
"Well?" I motioned her into the other chair, seeing her hovering nervously. She hesitated, then moved to the opposite chair, draping her jacket along the back of it.
This was going to be a long conversation.
