I would fucking destroy him!
How fucking dare he hurt Kenali!
After all the bullshit she'd done for him, taking him in and getting him a job and forgiving him for abandoning Raza and Theda and not helping --- he was fucking --- RAGH.
"I'll kill both of you," I snarled, lifting my arms from my side, making sure Kenali was behind me as I felt my glamour go, my red eyes glowering at the angels in front of me. "You don't deserve this world!"
"None of us do, Ashlandil." Iriel answered, almost sadly, the bastard. "Not even the humans. Not until they've found redemption. And they never will if that child destroys this world."
"For fucks --- it's a goddamn baby! It's not gonna fucking do anything, you demented asshole! It's innocent!"
"At the moment, yes. But when it reaches adulthood? When it learns of its power or knows of its heritage and takes advantage of it? No! Not so innocent then! It must be raised and dealt with accordingly!"
"I won't let you take my baby from me!" Kenali cried, and almost immediately I could feel heat behind me, as if my back was to a furnace. "You will not steal my child and make it into some kind of monster, or twist it's mind until it thinks that of itself! I will destroy both of you before you ever get the chance!"
"Oh, Kenali," Iriel snorted, shaking his head and clucking, patronizing her. "You don't have any say in the matter. You've barely been on earth a year, you're young and have yet to build any strength here. Cronus and I might be younger then Ashlandil, but we are both exceptionally gifted and he will not be able to protect you."
"I do not need Ashlandil to protect me," she snapped back. "You don't know anything about what I've learned or had to do here to survive, Iriel!"
"It matters not." he shrugged, eyes flicking to the plane. The blood from the dead pilots decorated the windows, and now there was a giant dent in the side thanks to Cronus; he would be going anywhere on that thing any time soon.
Good.
It gave us time.
"Cronus," Kenali turned to him, her voice beseeching. "Cronus, please. Why are you doing this?"
She actually sounded hurt.
Cronus just looked at us, not saying anything, all gangly and misproportioned as his body continued to grow and shrink, as if it couldn't decide what it wanted to do.
"Iriel involved Seraphine and she has his son." I said, my eyes flicking coldly to Iriel. "He's doing this for his kid."
Cronus actually winced.
Kenali inhaled sharply.
"You kidnapped his son!? Iriel!"
"It's all for the greater good," Iriel huffed, as if that excused everything. "And his son will be perfectly fine so long as Cronus does as I ask. Seraphine is under strict orders to dispose of him if anything happens to me, however." he added, almost smirking.
Jesus!
I stepped forward instantly, feeling like my backside had just been singed. I half turned, my eyes going to Kenali worriedly. She was just standing there, a furious look on her face as she clutched her injured arm to her side. Her hair was moving around her face, the red curls brushing her skin before flowing behind her.
And her eyes.
"You would threaten my own child," she was snarling, "and another's? Of your own kind!?"
Iriel stared at her, a little taken back. Had I never mentioned how she'd gone full dark on us once?
Oops.
"You would go so far as to threaten and blackmail us!?" her voice was steadily rising, and she took a step around me --- I got the distinct smell of burnt hair, and I hastily stepped away from her before I was caught in the backlash.
She would burn him to a crisp.
"Kenali ---."
"How dare you!" she shrilled, her hands rising, her arm apparently healed. "How DARE you!"
And I watched as Kenali went dark.
Again.
Iriel made a squeaking sound, staggering backward several feet, a look of shock and terror on his face I thoroughly enjoyed.
Even Cronus looked uneasy, abruptly shrinking down to his normal size and backtracking.
Now all she had to do was vaporize these idiots and we could go right home! This had been easier then I thought after all.
But what effect was going dark going to have on the baby? Would it hurt it?
It did have some human in it.
Would her turning into a walking volcano hurt the little peanut?
....
Son of a bitch !
"Kenali," I stepped to her worriedly, ignoring the scalding sensation on my skin the closer I got. "Kenali, calm down!'
I can't believe I'm doing this --- I should just let her vaporize them and be done with it!
"No!" her eyes flicked to mine, enraged and turning different colors, her voice holding an undertone. "They don't deserve to live!"
"They don't," I agreed sincerely. "And I'll take care of them. You don't need to go dark right now, not with the baby."
I was trying my best to keep my tone calm and soothing, and I saw her twitch at the mention of baby. She flexed her red and black hands, the black veins already rising and starting to cover every inch of her skin, making it resemble lava itself.
Of all the gifts, why did she have to get hellfire? The last guy who'd had it hadn't ended up very well.
And God knew Kenali didn't have good control over herself on anything.
