Two Runaways

JINXX’S POV

Where am I? I lost track 6 planets ago. It’s hard being on the run for a crime that you didn’t even know was a crime. All I did was help that girl out, keep her from harm’s way, how is that a crime? Planet Beutera has some weird ass laws. No helping out people who are being attacked, no eating dehydrated pineapple, and no wearing blue on the third Wednesday of each month? What the hell kind of laws are those? I thought laws were made to protect people. Well, protect MOST people. These laws just seem to be there for the hell of it. Oh look, you’re eating a dehydrated pineapple. Off with your fucking head, you filthy criminal. Wow, way to go all Red Queen there Jeremy. Point is, that planet is one huge turd sundae.
~ FLASHBACK ~
“No… No please stop. I don’t know what you’re fucking on about!” a female voice shouted.
I peered around the corner where I heard the shouting and saw a girl pushed against a wall, surrounded by two or three guys. They were big burly guys, the smallest being around 6 foot probably 200 ish pounds. She looked so miniscule compared to them, what trouble could she have possibly caused? Come on Jeremy, remember, don’t judge a book by its cover. Right.
“Come on Ana, you know what you did. Just fess up, we won’t hurt you…. Too bad. Who am I kidding? This is probably going to end badly for you.”
“I already told you, I don’t know what you’re fucking on about Epaphroditos!” Ana replied, her voice cracking slightly. Funny thing about the name Epaphroditos, it means lovely/charming in ancient Greek. This guy certainly isn’t very charming. I looked away for a minute to see if anybody else was seeing what I was, but there was nobody within fifteen feet of me and the scene unfolding before me. Suddenly there was a loud whacking sound before the unmistakable sound of ribs cracking. I turned back to the group and saw the girl, Ana, doubled over clutching her ribs. Without even thinking I ran towards them.
“Hey! What are you doing? Get the fuck away from her.”
“You’re making a big mistake coming over here and confronting us like this, pal. Go on and skedaddle before we make you regret being so ‘good natured’” Epaphroditos growled.
“You aren’t from here are you, because I don’t think you realize how things work around here” a man to the right of Epaphroditos said while his friend continued the assault on Ana.
I was tired of standing here talking to these scumbags already, and I certainly don’t think it was benefitting Ana much. I turned around, starting to walk away from the group, setting my trap.
“That’s right pretty boy, keep walking. If you’re looking for a new hairdresser, there’s one down H Street” Epaphroditos mocked.
I stopped in my tracks, a smirk on my face, and turned back around. Way to trigger the trap. Looking at the group in front of me, I quickly figured out how I was going to execute this. Having three 200 plus pound guys against means I can’t really use brute force, not that I have much to do anything with, to take them down. I have being smaller and faster to my advantage, and maybe some mind games to kind of make things a little fun. Seeing as they too dabble in the games of the mind variety I decided to leave those out, my main objective was to get this Ana girl away from them as fast as possible.
“Looks like we’ve got us a hero here, boys. Let’s show him what happens to those who try to be the new goth power ranger.” Epaphroditos snickered before the guy to his left started towards me. Once I was in range he swung, aiming high for my eye, and seconds before contact I dropped down enough to miss impact. That gave me an opening to land a punch to the gut and a knee to his crotch. As he went down, clutching his ‘precious jewels’, I ran past the other two where Ana was before they could do anything.
“I suggest you leave now, you could get in huge trouble” Ana quickly said with a grunt, still clutching onto her ribs.
“No, I’m getting you away from these guys. Come on, it looks like they’re getting ready to leave anyways” I replied, looking over to Epaphroditos standing over his fallen man with a look of shock on his face.
“Come on boys, we’ll get her some other time. No need to continue this now, he’s already got her,” Epaphroditos calmly said to his men before turning to us “we’ll be seeing you soon Ana, you can count on it. And you can count on more than the few bruises we gave you.”
“Ooo yay, I get more than broken ribs next time! Did you hear that? I get to see their lovely faces and possibly death,” Ana sarcastically said “by the way….. Who are you mysterious man who just saved me from getting beaten to death for the time being?”
“I’m Jeremy, and you’re Ana. Right? Do you need help getting home or to a hospital?”
“Well technically my name is Anastazie. I think you should prob….” Ana started before some sort of siren started “oh no…. they’ve already found out. You need to go. Now.”
“What do you mean?”
“You there! You’re under arrest……” Was all I heard from the unknown person before Ana pushed me and I started running.
