Living Dead

(Two years later.)
I get the two tin cans and mixed the drinks up in front of the customers. They recorded the work and I pour the substance into glasses. I swipe them across the table, straight into the hands of the customers. They all clapped and I bowed a little. I wipe my hands off with a white towel and started to serve shots of tequila and vodka, before handing them to Sia. My phone starts to ring and I look at John, he nods and I go to the back to receive the call.
"Adamara speaking." I answered.
"Ada? It's Mom."
"MAMA! How are you!"
"Mija, estoy bien, es tu papa."
"Que le paso?" She stays quiet. "Mama, please. Que le paso a papa?" She takes a deep breath.
"Tuvo un atacke de corazon." I gasp, as tears filled my eyes. "Esta bien mal. He's weak." I bite my bottom lip.
"Mom... Damn it. Stay there,. Please."
"Aquino te espero." I hang up and I bump into John.
"Hey is everything okay?" He asks, getting my hands and kissing the back of them softly.
"No, I gotta go... I really gotta go." I said as I wiped my face. "I need to go." I repeated.
"Go.. Go! I can see it's important. I'll take the shift." I hug him quickly, and kiss his lips. "Just be careful okay?" I nod and kiss him once more before grabbing my jacket and getting the keys to my car. I toss my bag in the passenger seat, and rushed out of the parking lot, into the mild traffic.

I enter the hospital and my mom was right in the hallway, a hankie in her hand. "Mama." She looks up and I get her into my arms. She cries into my arms and I rub her back.
"Where's Agustina?"
"She's home with the babysitter today. Me and John worked tonight. How is he?"
"In pain." She says, sniffing. I hand her a hankie and she gratefully takes it. "But he's asleep."
"Por lo menos, he's fine."
"Oh Ada, yo pensaba.." I kiss her forehead and she leaned into me.
"Oh mama. Dad's a fighter."
"Ya se." She sighs and I help her sit down in a chair. The time seemed to pass by, and my phone started to ring, distribution me from my daydreams. I look at the time
1:50am.
"Hello?" I said, rubbing the sleep away from my eyes.
"Babe? How is he?"
"He's alright, he's asleep, but my mom doesn't want to leave." I look at my sleeping mom. "She just fell asleep." He sighs and I do as well. "I'm going home later, how's Tina?"
"She's okay? Asking for you, but she's asleep. We were watching Pocahontas at 12:30 in the morning, reminds me too much of her mother."
"John, don't even start with me." He chuckles, and I smiled. "I'll be there soon. I have to go to school tomorrow." I yawned. "Go to sleep, I'll crawl right next to you soon."
"Alright. Laters."
"Night." I hang up and walk to my mom. "Mom." I shake her a little, and her head goes up. She looks at me and her face grew tired once more. "Let's go home." She shakes her head. "Mama, he's going to be okay. Nos van a llamar." She nods and I help her stand up. We walk out the building and Into my car.

The next morning, John had asked Erick to give us a week of vacation, and i was internally grateful when he said it was okay. Nalani called last night, saying she was going to visit, whether we liked it or not, but since she was technically my daughter's godmother. At 9 in the morning, no matter what time she went to sleep, our alarm clock came running through our bedroom door and on our bed, jumping that she was hungry. John groans and looks at me with his dark hazel eyes.
"I'll go, get ready." He kisses my nose and snatches Agustina from her waist and spun into the living room, our daughter's laughter filling our home. I stretch my arms, and swung my legs to the edge of the bed. I stand up and went into the bathroom, washed my face, and then took a rather quick shower. I wrap a white towel around my body and my hair. I opened the closet and chose out the outfit I had picked up since yesterday. I put on the beige shorts, black shirt, a long lavender cardigan, a pair of knee highs and my anklet boots. I put on minimal makeup, and tied my hair into two braids before putting them together, making a down crown braid. I put on my bracelets and looked at the one my best friends sent me. I looked at the mirror, which contained the small note and I smiled as I read.


'Adamara, we will be back soon to see you. You're simply amazing and we can't stop thinking of you. Enjoy the MERCH that's for you and you only. We love and miss you Ada! - BVB'



Although the note was sent a year ago, I was happy I kept it. I put on the BVB brackets and the butterfly necklace and headed to where the rest of my family was. John had a feather boa on his neck and Agustina was in her pinky Darth Vader mask with her Thor hammer and her Hello Kitty pajamas that were sent in by Ashley. My phone rings again, making John look at me and points to a white mug. I signal a thank you and he blows me a kiss before he gets Tina and places her in her high chair.
"Adamara Lugo, how may I help you?"
"Ada? It's Jinxx."
"Hey Jeremy! How are you?"
"Great actually, I thought you changed your number."
"No just my name."
"I heard and saw, congrats. " he sounded pretty sad though.
"Thanks. How about you?"
"I got divorced, but I'm fine now.."
"I'm sorry to hear that, but I, glad you're doing okay."
"Yeah, anyway, the guys didn't want to tell you, but I think you deserve to know that we're going to Baltimore again."
"Really? It's been so long."
"Yeah! And we were wondering,well, More like, I was wondering if you wanted to see us preform?"
"I would love too, but I can't take the baby"
"How old is the baby?"
"She's 2."
"I'm sure we can't get some headphones for her. We do it for Jake's nephews."
"I'll see okay? I can't wait to see you guys." I said, as I walked to the kitchen once more.
"Same here, well I gotta go. The guys are giving me the stare."
"Alright,see you soon!"
