**CC’s POV**
I could already hear the music blasting from their suite halfway down the hall. Shit, I hope there’s nobody in the suites next door! The door was left slightly open so people could come and go without a room key so we just walked right in. At first, her face was a mix of ‘Holy shit, this is terrifying!’ and “Aw fuck, I have to clean this all up tomorrow!” but the effects from the little confidence boost I’d just given her kicked back in in time for me to introduce her to the evil masterminds behind this party. Danny and the rest of the Asking gang were with a couple of groupies in the kitchen which wasn’t more than a couple feet away from the front door.
“Hey! It’s CC!” Danny shouted in greeting before handing me a beer. Ben and James slightly raised their glasses to acknowledge me but Sam and Cam were too busy making out with chicks to notice I was even there.
“Oi! Who’s this one?” said Ben as he nodded towards Hailey. She didn’t really seem too phased by the attention she was getting from them. Strange…I would’ve thought they would make her the most nervous of everyone here, I mean, they do have a pretty colorful reputation.
“CC, you sly dog!” said James with a smirk as he gave her a quick look over. Danny looked at her face and concentrated for a second as if he were trying to remember her.
“Hey! I know you! You’re…you’re…bloody hell what was your name again? It’s uh…oh fuck it, you’re that one!” He said which made her laugh.
“I’m the one that showed ya’ll to your suite, remember?” she said with a smile
“Oh yeah! I’m still waiting for you to toss me off!” said Ben
“I told you that costs extra, besides, I’m off duty now anyway.” She replied as Danny got her a beer as well.
“Now tell me,” Danny started while opening the bottle for her “has our CC here been a naughty boy?” As soon as he handed it to her she took a swig.
“I swear, I’ve been good all night!” I said
“So far!” added James. Okay, I’ll admit I’m not perfect by any means and I’m not going to pretend that I am, but I was far better behaved than these guys any day and I was worried that they were going to give Hailz the impression that I was on their level or that I was only acting like this until I got what I wanted from her when that wasn’t the case at all.
“Oh, I just remembered, you didn’t get to meet Jake last night, did you, Hailz? Let’s go find him…” I said before saying a couple quick goodbyes and leading her out of the kitchen to find Jake and the guys. I knew I could trust them to not make an ass of me in front of her. Hey, maybe I can get Ash to give me some more tips on how to make her feel more comfortable.
**Hailz’s POV**
As soon as we found Andy and them CC introduced me Jake then talked to Ash for several minutes leaving me to make awkward conversation with him. Thanks, CC. Actually, it wasn’t too bad after we got past the initial conversation starters, we ended up talking about guitars for a while, a little bit about protein shakes, and our mutual love of sushi.
“My parents used to go to this one joint in Austin that served sea urchin.”
“Sea urchin? I’ve gotta say, I don’t think I’ve ever tried that.” He said before CC put his arm around my shoulders again and asked if I wanted to chill out on the sofa with him.
“Um, sure. I guess I’ll see you around, Jake.” I said before CC whisked me away in the middle of a conversation again and sat with me on the couch.
“I’m sorry I kinda left you hanging with Jake back there.” He said
“Don’t worry about it. What were you and Ash talking about anyway?” I asked. He looked down and bit his lip for a second.
“You promise you won’t laugh?” he asked
“Is this about the wood chucks again?” I asked with a raised eyebrow. He chuckled.
“No, I swear it’s not the wood chucks again.” He said with a smile
“Then I promise.” I said and marked an X over my heart. He looked down again.
“I was asking Ashley for advice.” He said after a few seconds “Dating advice.”
“Dating advice? What for?” I asked feeling genuine surprise
“Because, well, I really like you and I was nervous that if you were nervous then you wouldn’t have fun here at the party and then maybe you…” he trailed off
“Wait up, I make you nervous?” The only other time a guy has ever said that to me was when Alex was watching me chop up a cucumber while I was mad about something.
“Yeah, of course, I mean you’re funny and pretty and goofy and sweet and you’re a fan and I guess I just want to live up to your expectations of me.” He said and looked up into my eyes. Oh baby…I moved closer and wrapped my arms around him.
“Oh CC, it doesn’t matter to me if you meet my admittedly unrealistic expectations or not, Darlin’. I’m definitely not perfect and I don’t mind if you aren’t either.” I said. He smiled that gorgeous smile at me and I think I melted.
“Well, would you mind if I did this?” he said before he brushed my bangs out of my face and planted his lips right on mine. No, sir, I do not mind this at all.
