**CC’s POV**
“Oh that’s just beautiful, Ash. Hey, why stop there? Let’s just break all the shit, why don’t we?” I said as I got out of my chair and started picking up the bigger pieces of glass. Hailey was immediately right beside me assuring me that she had it under control but I insisted on helping her anyway. Ask her something, get the conversation started. “So, uh, did you have fun last night?” Okay, by no means was that the perfect move, but hey, it beats ‘I have a penis’. She looked up at me and smiled.
“Well, I certainly had fun going through all those pictures you took on my phone.” She said which made me snicker. “But, yeah, I had a great time. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun while working.” She carefully dumped all the glass she had collected into a small trash can one of the waiters had brought over for her. “And what about you?” she asked as I dumped my glass as well.
“To be honest, any night where I end up with a chick on my lap is a good night for me, especially when it’s a girl who’s as cool as you.” I said which made her smile and look away shyly. Fuck, why are you so adorable? I was just about to bring up the party tonight when some asshole started playing ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight?’ from The Lion King over the speakers on their phone. My face warmed up and she blushed cherry red and tried to hide her face with the collar of her uniform while a bunch of the guys laughed and cheered. Andy and Danny both stood up and put their arms around each other’s shoulders while dramatically singing along which luckily took most of the attention off the two of us. She quickly cleared up the last of the glass then we sat and watched Andy and Danny’s performance. Once they had finished and were taking bows while they were applauded by everyone, including the waiting staff, I stood up and helped her up off the floor.
“Hey, thanks for helping me out.” She said as she brushed her bangs out of her face which was still slightly pink
“No problem.” I said with a smile. She smiled back sweetly then went and got her mop.
“Well, I gotta go, but it was nice seeing you again. I’ll see you around.” She said as she started to walk past me to the door. Ah crap, I still haven’t asked her out yet! Mission in jeopardy! Mayday! Mayday!
“Wait!” I said perhaps a bit more urgently than necessary. She turned around to look at me. “I uh, I uh um...I I’m…going that way too.” I lied. She looked at me suspiciously and asked where exactly I was going. “Oh, you know, just in a general…that direction.” I said with a gesture towards the door. She giggled at that. At least she doesn’t think I’m being creepy.
“Um, isn’t that your food?” she asked and pointed to the waitress that was setting down plates of food on our table. I looked back at the table then at her.
“Nope.” I said with my voice getting higher at the end and she cocked an eyebrow at me. I knew she knew I was lying, but she was amused by it so I tried to keep it up for her. Hehe that sounded dirty.
“Uh, that’s mine too…for later…can I get this in a to-go box?” said Jake as he pulled the plate in my spot to him. I smiled and stood up a little straighter, feeling more confident knowing that I had four great wingmen on my side. She smiled and shook her head.
“Well, alrighty then, I’ll walk with you.” She said with a bit of a giggle.
“Yay!” I cheered and clapped as I walked up next to her which made her fully giggle. We started heading out but just as we reached the door she stopped and turned.
“Oh, before I forget…Ashley, Honey?” she said in a too sweet voice. Oh boy, what’s she gunna do? He turned to look her. “The next time you want to go breaking shit to get my attention, try just saying ‘hi’ instead or at the very least make sure I’m not looking first.” She said with a smile. God Damnit Ash, that’s a rookie mistake.
I laughed and shouted “Aww shit!” while the rest of the guys laughed and heckled him. His face went a little pink before he shrugged and gave her his infamous ‘You know you can’t be mad at me’ face. She rolled her eyes and smiled at him before we turned back and walked out together. We walked in silence for a minute before I could conjure up something to say. “So, you know, I really did enjoy hanging out with you last night and I think you’re a pretty cool chick” she blushed and looked away from me shyly. Damn, she’s so fucking cute when she’s being all shy and shit. “And I heard the Asking guys are throwing a party up in the penthouse they’re in…” she looked back up at me with those eyes of hers and my palms started getting sweaty. “So, I was kinda wondering if you would maybe, potentially be interested in going with me to that and perhaps even get dinner with me beforehand?” I asked. In the seconds between my asking her out and her answering me, I felt like an awkward middle school boy who had just asked the really popular girl he had a crush on to go to their first school dance together. I was just about to shoot myself in the foot by saying it would be ‘Just as friends’ to take away some of the awkwardness when she smiled broadly and nodded.
“Absolutely! Yes! Totally!” she said as if I’d just offered her a million dollars. Jesus, the hell was I worried about? She’s a huge fan, remember?
“Really? Great! So, what time do you get off today?” I asked as we stopped in front of a door in the lobby with a ‘Staff Only’ sign on it. Staff only? What? No balls allowed?
“I’ll have to check with my manager, but I’ll text you as soon as I find out!” she said looking like she was about to start bouncing off the walls.
“Alright, I’ll see you tonight!” I said as she started fumbling with the doorknob
“See you tonight!” she said as she managed to open the door and step in “Bye!” she waved before closed the door. As I walked back to my room, I almost couldn’t resist doing a little happy dance. Guess who just scored a hot date? This guy, that’s who!
