Love is in the Air

Catching the Love Bug

Liv’s POV:

“Ashley, you shouldn’t be here,” I croaked out, hiding my head under the mound of blankets piled o top of me.

He only chuckled, and continued to tuck me in, ensuring that I was nice and comfy, before he joined me on our bed. For the past week and a half, while I was under strict bed rest, I had ordered for my loving boyfriend to go nowhere near me, not wanting for him to take ill. And since I got to the bedroom first, it only made sense that I take over it, however I refused for him to enter the room at all. The guys and him were set to start the second half of the Black Mass tour, and I didn’t want Ashley getting sick during tour time.

“Livvy, nothing’s going to happen, I’m just cuddling you. You wouldn’t refuse me a cuddle on Valentine’s Day, would you?” He asked, deliberately giving me his most adorable face.

I caved, much to his amusement.

“Fine, but we need this in between us,” I shoved a couple pillows and blankets between us, creating a dense barrier.

I could practically se him rolling his eyes, as he hastily removed my attempt at a wall, before piling them on top of me when he noticed me shivering. “see? Now you’re getting all cold,” he scowled, “I’m just going to keep you warm. Nothing wrong with that.”

I laughed, my voice cracked and sounded rather hoarse, but I still laughed. “OIs Ashley Purdy making a sexual reference when I’m all sick and defenseless? That’s’ low, man.”

He chuckled; narrowing his eyes at me, pulling me flush to his chest, “such a dirty mind. Shut up, you need rest.”

“Fine,” I pouted but curled up against his chest without further protest.

He gently kissed the top of my head, “I think your fever’s finally gone down,” he sounded relieved.

I ‘hmmed’ my answer, nuzzling my head into his chest.

When sleep didn’t come to me, I leaned up on my elbows, peering curiously at Ashley as he watched me. “Can you turn on Netflix?” I asked in a small voice, making him chuckle.

He kissed me cheek in response, tossing me the remote, before he quickly disappeared from the room.

I frowned at his sudden lack of presence, but shrugged to myself, picking a show. I settled on a episode of ‘Brooklyn Nine Nine’, Ashley and I’s new favourite show. I settled back into the warm blankets, waiting for Ashley’s return.

And in a few minutes, he returned, holding a tray full of food in shaky arms. I laughed to myself as he nearly dropped the entire platter, but managed to stabilize himself just in time. He sent a glare towards my sniggering form, and set the tray down on my nightstand. I rustled around and glanced down at the meal he had prepared, which on its own was incredibly sweet.

He made me some soup, possibly the potatoes and carrot one from my childhood, since he knew I was vegetarian. For himself, was a pasta dish, and for a drink, there was a bottle of wine, paired with two wine glasses, but as a safety precaution, a glass of water and a ginger ale just in case. I smiled up at him, he truly was the sweetest person in the entire world.

He handed me my steaming soup and settled in beside me, already half way done his pasta, much to my amusement. I started the episode and occasionally would pop a spoonful of delicious soup into my mouth. By now, I was used to Ashley newfound skill n the culinary arts, which had at first shocked me. But now we were able to split the ability for dinner preparation, and just watching a heavy bass player of a rock band cook was just plain adorable.

“You’re not eating,” my thoughts were interrupted by Ashley’s voice.

I offered him a small smile, placing my more or less full bowl of soup on the nightstand. “No appetite I guess, don’t worry, it was delicious. You’ll have to cook more often, especially when you’re back from tour.”

The mention of tour made him tense immediately, and he sighed, pulling me into his arms despite my protests. He buried his face in my hair, breathing deeply, telling me mentally that he needed to tell me something.

“Alright Ash., out with it. What’s wrong? You’ve been antsy ever since I first got sick last week.. Or maybe was it the week before? Either way, not the point, talk to me,” I demanded sternly, looking into his brown eyes.

He sighed, taking a deep breath, “you know how I said tour starts at the end of February?” I nodded at the distinct memory: I had been thrilled that we would get to spend our first Valentine’s Day together. “Well, that was a lie. Tour started a week ago, more or less.”

I gasped, “what? You put off tour for what reason? Me?! That’s crazy Ashley! It’s your job, I’m your girlfriend, I can wait, your job simply cannot!”

He ran his hands anxiously through his hair several times, “I know, but you weren’t feeling well, and you wouldn’t have anyone to take care of you. You’d be alone at night, which alone is painful enough for me to think of, but you, sick, and alone, that’s basically unbearable. I talked to the guys and Jon, they worked something out. Don’t worry, babe, I’m here.”

I hook my head, “that’s not the point. I’ll be alone every now and again, but I’ll manage. I could’ve asked one of the girls to come over, or maybe I’d have just stuck it out. I can take care of myself, have been since I was eighteen.”

“I get that, but we’re in a relationship, I should be able to take care of you when you’re sick, and look after you in general, my job, which I love, doesn’t always let me do that. I’m just looking out for you Olivia.”

I sighed, giving up. “Okay. I’m not happy with your decision, but let’s not fight. I have a headache already and it’s our first valentine’s day together. I love you Ashley.”

He smiled softly at me, kissing my head and pulling me into his arms. We remained motionless for a while, before he quickly stood up and dashed out of the room for a second, returning with a bottle of Advil. I smiled at him as he handed me two tablets and my water glass.

“You’re so sweet,” I smiled, snuggling into his arms.

He kissed the top of my head again, “only for you. Just don’t tell any of the guys, could ruin my image,” he joked.

“I may just have to do that,” I teased.

“I love you,” he said, kissing me head again and then we both turned our attention to the TV.
