The Puppet Master

*Jenny's POV*

"You are late." Biyu stated.
"It is our new year. We stay awake to watch it strike midnight." I explained.
The other girl nodded. "We are close." She said.
"We are?" I looked into her angular eyes. She was so beautiful and sharply angled.
"Very, you will see your brother soon."
"And Emilie? She will see her grandmother?" I checked.
"Yes." Biyu agreed, her delicate hands working over and over a riddle.
I glanced at it - we had scoured each dimension for it.
I remembered them, all the pretty minds, all the lovely people, the wealth of information.
"Where the water is pure but does not run, the blood of the two fills the desires of one." Biyu read. "What does it mean?"
"I don't know..." I murmured.

I sat by the font in the church, remembering Emilie sitting with me, but the space was so empty.
I was lost in my forest of thoughts to the point I didn't hear him aproach.
"Didn't think you'd show." He mused.
"I didn't either."
"Party is almost over." He commented.
"I think you need the rest," I replied, "You look exhaused, Ash."
"I feel it." Ashley sighed.
I stared at the font like I was missing something.
"Where the water is pure but doesn't run!" I gasped. "This is it! This water, no matter how dirty it gets, it stays clean, right?"
"Uh... yeah, it's trippy." He replied, frowning.
"It's this!"
"It's what?" He asked, still frowning.
I sank like a balloon with the air let out. "Nothing, the answer to a riddle is all." I sighed.
"Oh... must be an important riddle." He observed.
"Yeah."
