Let Shadows Die

When Hope awoke she thought that maybe the whole thing had been a very vivid dream.
"You weren't dreaming, Hope."
She turned to see Andy laying in the bed next to her. He was looking at her with a worried expression on his face. "What's wrong?" She asked, almost afraid something had went wrong when he bit her.
"I did something I shouldn't have when I bit you, Hope. When I tasted your blood I knew you were my mate. I marked you, Hope. I'm sorry. I should have asked first, but I couldn't help it. I've waited my whole life for you. Please don't angry. I promise I'll be a good mate to you."
"Wait, what do you mean you marked me?"

She listened as he explained that when a vampire or werewolf found their mate, they marked them so others of their kind would know they were off limits. It also made a connection between them that allowed to know where the other was at all times. They were essentially connected mind, body, and soul forever.
"But I don't feel you in my mind. She said.
"That's because it's not complete yet. I wasn't gonna do that without your permission."
"so how do you have to complete it?"
Andy looked at her worriedly again and winced "Well, we have to consumate it."
"And how do we do that?" she asked, though she was sure she already knew the answer.
"We have to have sex."

Hope was silent for a moment not sure what to say. She had only hours before been wishing for this very thing but she had only just met Andy. How could she know for sure he was for her?
"What happens if we don't consumate it?"
"It will be painful for the both of us. Hope, you should know I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't absolutely sure you were my mate. But there's something else I should tell you."
"What?"
"I'm only half vampire. I'm also half werewolf and because of that it has to be done before the full moon."
"But that's tomorrow night."
"I know. Hope, I'm sorry. I really fucked up this time."

Hope didn't know what to say. She believed him when he told her he was sure she was his mate. She couldn't deny when he kissed her there had been sparks. But she was a virgin. She had never been with a guy before and she was afraid. Her friends had told her it had hurt when they had lost theirs. Though she was sure Andy hadn't known that when he marked her.
"Does that mean it has to be tonight?"
"Yes, Hope, I'm sorry."
"Andy, I want to do this, but..."
"But what, Hope?"
"I'm a virgin, Andy."

This seemed to suprise him. He looked thoughtful for a moment "Hope I'll be gentle. I promise. I can't hurt you, you're my mate. I didn't hurt you when I bit you did I?"
"No, you didn't, but this is different. I've heard my friends tell me how bad it hurt."
"I can't promise that it won't hurt, but I can promise to make it as easy as possible. Trust me, Hope, I'll be gentle. I'll go slow."

She looked at him and saw the truth in his eyes. She knew he would do his best to make it easy for her.
"Ok, I trust you, Andy. Let's consumate it."
