Leaving Hope To Bleed *May Be Triggering to Some*

Chapter Twelve

Andy's POV:

"Can we just go?" CC asks after Ashley finishes kissing her. We all nod and look at her. She can barely keep her eyes open, I'm guessing she's about to black out. They all leave the kitchen, but I stay and watch her struggle to stay awake. I wish Ashley wouldn't have made her drink so much alcohol. She must be very scared. I remember how scared I was.
I was fourteen years old, my dad forced me to drink. I threw up so much I thought I was going to die. Maybe I could stay and comfort her. Let her know everything is going to be alright.....
Wait, what am I thinking? Why should I care? I shake my head of all thoughts and turn to leave. But I hear something and turn around.
"Andy..." She whispers, just as her eyes close completely. Did she really mean to call my name, or was that the alcohol?

Summer's POV:

The world slips away from me and I fall into the darkness. A white light flashes before my eyes and my mom appears in front of me.
"Mom, I can't handle this anymore. I'm done." I cry out.
"No, no. You're brave, you've got this." I shake my head.
"No, mom you know it, and I know it. I'm weak, I'm not brave. I can't even stand up for myself, I need you. Please mom, just take me now, I can't take it anymore. Please don't make me go back." I plead sobbing loudly. I can't do this anymore.
"Baby. I can't, I promise I would if I could."
"Why not?" I scream crying even more.
"Because it's not your time."
"Then why am I here?" I blurt out.

Amber's POV:

I've called Summer four times and sent three messages and she hasn't answered one, somethings wrong. I know it, I have a bad feeling in my gut. I quickly slip on my hoodie and my converse. I grab my phone and purse and head downstairs. I only live a few blocks away from her so I'm going to walk. I don't want to bother my mom with my problems. I wish I had a mom like Summer did. My mom isn't abusive or anything she just doesn't care about anything I do. Yeah its great sometimes, but then again it makes me feel like she doesn't care about me. I say a quick bye to her and leave. As I'm walking I call again, no answer. I sigh and try two more times. I get to her house and walk up on the porch. It's been four hours since we last talked, I hope she's okay. That's weird...the front door is open slightly. I walk in and shut the door behind me.
"Summer! It's me, Amber. You haven't been answering my calls, I was getting worried." I ask, waiting for a response but not getting one.
"Summer?" I call out as I walk into the kitchen. I don't see anything until I go behind the counter.

Summer's leaning against the wall beside the trashcan. The smells of Vodka and throw up fill my nose. She's in just her bra and panties, her clothes sprawled out on the floor. Her eyes are shut, nothing but fear showing on her face. Her skin is very pale and her chest is just barely moving. I drop my purse on the ground and run over to her. I quickly move her away from the wall and lay her down. Then something catches my attention. On her stomach are three small holes. The flesh is torn and they look almost like burns. One is so bad that it's actually bleeding. I look around and see an almost empty bottle of Vodka on the floor. But Summer doesn't drink. She's always been scared to, she doesn't want to end up like her father.
"Summer! Summer baby wake up!" I say shaking her shoulders harshly. She doesn't move, just lays there motionless. The only sound is her rapid slow breathing. Tears swell up in my eyes, she's not dead. She can't be because she's breathing.

I take a deep breath and try to think. What am I supposed to do?
"Wake up!" I scream frustrated as if that will make her magically wake up. I can't think of anything else so I call Jacob.
"Hey Jacob....Umm no....I need your help..."

Summer's POV:

"Then why do I keep coming back to you?" I blurt out. She sighs.
"Because deep down you really don't want to die. You want to be that girl that grows up and gets married. You want to have kids and be successful. You want to have grandchildren and die happily of old age. You don't want to leave right now. And I'm the only one who can keep you going, even when you're about to break."
"But I do. I want to die, I want to be with you." She shakes her head.
"No, you don't."
"How do you know?" I ask, not wanting to believe what she is saying. I don't want to go back, I want to die.
"Because, a mother always knows."
"Then can I at least stay here with you? For just a little bit? I miss you so much." She sighs.
"No, you have to wake up."

"Then, then will you.....Then will you stay with me?" I ask. She laughs lightly.
"Baby, I'm always with you. Weather you know it or not." She says smiling sweetly. Her legs start fading.
"Mom you're fading." I say almost panicked.
"I know, I have to go. And you've got to wake up. Promise me." Now half of her body is gone. I don't want her to go.
"Mom, please, I don't want you to go!" I blink and she disappears completely.
"Mom?" I call out.
"Promise me..." I hear her whisper.
"I promise....For you..." I call back, the loneliness consuming me. I think I hear water running....

Amber's POV:

I put Summer's head on my lap and stroke her hair.
"You're going to be ok. It's ok, you're alright." I whisper to her, even though I know she can't hear me. I can't believe she would do something like this. I hear the front door open and shut.
"We're in here!" I shout, Jacob walks into the kitchen.
"What's wro..." He stops when he sees Summer.
"What happened?" He asks looking panicked.
"I don't know.....I guess she drank till she passed out....I don't know, I can't get her to wake up." Jacob gives me a weird look.
"But Summer doesn't drink." He says carefully.
"I know, I don't know what happened. I found her like this. Please help, she wont wake up. What do I do?" I ask hysterically. I'm so scared that she might not wake up.
"What happened to her stomach?" Jacob asks stepping closer.

"I don't know. I think they might be burns, but I'm not sure." The one that's bleeding looks really bad, I think it might be affected. Jacob kneels down beside her and examines the tiny wounds.
"Those where done with a cigarette."
"What? Summer doesn't smoke and neither does her dad. And how do you know they're from a cigarette?" He sighs and continues to look at the burns.
"Because I've been burnt with a cigarette before." Jacob says without elaborating. But he doesn't smoke either....that's strange, but I decide not to ask.
"So what does that mean?" I ask Jacob.
"Someone did this to her." He says, rage flaring in his eyes.
"But who would've done thi-" And then it hits me.
"What?" Jacob asks.

"I think I might know who did this."
"Who?" Jacob questions.
"Andy and his friends." I get the chills from just saying his name.
"How do you know they did it?" He asks.
"Because, yesterday I read her journal. I found out that they are the ones who hurt her in the bathroom at school. I told her that she had to tell someone.....But I guess she was too late."
"I knew it..." He mumbles, anger edging at his voice.
"What do we do?" I ask looking down at her pale face. Her lips are almost blue and are parted slightly. Her cheeks are stained with tears and her eyes have bags under them.
"Ok, go fill the bathtub with cold water." he says, I nod and run upstairs into the bathroom.

3rd Person:

The only sound in the house is the water rushing upstairs. Jacob carefully scoops Summer's fragile body up. Her skin is cold and she's as light as a feather. He can tell that she lost weight since Monday. He slowly carries her upstairs, his feet moving to the rhythm of her slow breathing. He gets upstairs and enters the bathroom. The big porcelain tub is halfway full.
"Okay, I'm going to set her in it." Jacob says inching towards the bathtub. He holds her out above the water.
"Okay, you're going to have to help me keep her head above water." Jacob says to Amber.
"But what about her burns?" Amber asks.
"We have to worry about waking her up right now, and anyways, the cold water will help with the burns." Amber nods and helps lower her into the bathtub. Jacob shakes her and splashes some water into her face.
Her eyes fly open and every memory comes back to her. Summer freaks out and starts screaming.
"No! Please stop! Please!" She jumps out of the tub and falls to the floor. Summer crawls to the corner of the bathroom and hugs her knees, still screaming and covering her face.

"Summer! Summer it's ok, it's me Amber!" Summer immediately calms down when she realizes who it is. But three words surface to her mind, sending fear through every inch of her body.
"This isn't over...." She whispers, remembering the last words she heard.
