The Children Who God Forgot (Andy Biersack)

Chapter 4.

I had no idea why I had offered my mother to take Deandra, Makela and Ben to the park. It was one of the biggest mistakes. Deandra and Makela were constantly annoying eachother while I still had to pay attention to Ben. Of course Laila didn't have to go since she had chores to do. She probably wasn't going to do that and I was stuck with them.

"Devon! Deandra called me a pig!" Makela yelled pulling my sleeve
.
"Deandra! Stop calling your sister names." I said.

"She pinched me!"

"Makela don't pinch your sister." I sighed. Deandra and Makela came walking next to me both holding my arms while Ben walked up front. I thought about Andrew and what happened a few days ago. I felt guilty. I shouldn't have said any of those things. I don't know what was happening to me at that moment. Never have I judged someone, and now I just judged him on his looks. Maybe I was just denying the fact that I loved that look of his. That something pulled me to him and I didn't like that. Could you imagine me saying that to my mother? 'Hey mother. Remember that punk kid, yeah I'm dating him know'. I should just plan my own funeral. I could imagine the way people would look at me when I walked down the street with Andrew. The way they look at him is disgusting. People treat him like a piece of garbage. Nobody should treat someone else like that. I was barely paying attention to the twins annoying Ben until I heard Ben crying.

"Ben what did they do?" I asked him. He was walking a couple of feet in front of us.

"They were mean! They tried pulling my hair and they pinched me!" Ben screamed. Isn't life just great?

"Deandra and Makela." I said glaring at them. They quickly apologized. "Ben come here. We're about to cross the street and you're not walking alone."

"NO! I don't want to walk with you guys! I will cross the street alone!" Ben yelled and started running. I was about to chase him when I saw a big truck heading towards him. The whole world seemed to slow down as the truck kept getting closer and Ben looked at it. Just before the truck could hit Ben there was someone who yanked him off of the road. When the honking truck passed I saw Andrew holding Ben thightly while Ben was crying. He quickly crossed the road back to us.

"Is he yours?" He asked chuckling. I held Ben in my arms as he buried his face in the croock of my neck.

" Sorry." I could hear Ben say. I placed my hand on his head rubbing it.

"You saved him." I said softly in disbelief.

"I couldn't just let him get crushed, could I? What kind of person do you think I am?"

"A better one than me." I responded sighing.

"Who are you?" Deandra asked him.

"I'm Andy." He said towards her.

" Thank you for saving Ben, Andy." Makela said and Andrew smiled at her.

"I like your drawings." Ben said and pointed at the batman tattoo.

"You know who this is?" Andrew asked him. Ben nodded excited and yelled: "Batman!"

Deandra and Makela were playing with Ben at the playground while I was sitting on a bench with Andrew. I had asked him to come with me, to talk I guess. I liked hearing his voice. It was soothing.

"What are your opinions about religion, Andrew?" I asked after a long silence.

"Call me Andy. It's not elemantary school." He said chuckling. "Why are you asking for my opinion?"

"I guess I'm curious, the way you dress isn't really something that the bible approves." I answered.

"I don't believe in the bible. It wasn't written by God or anything. A bunch of dead people can't tell me what I can't do."

"My mom would say you would go to Hell for saying that." I chuckled.

"I don't believe in Hell."

"What do you think that happens after death then?"

"I don't know. Maybe there is something like Heaven, maybe reincarnation or maybe you're death forever." He said shrugging. "You seem to be thinking very hard." he said as he saw my face.

"I'm just confused. Let's say there is a heaven and hell. How do you know you won't end up in hell." I asked.

"Just by being a good person. Why would God give any fuck about what you do with your body, or who you love or what you do?"

It was silent aftet that for quite a while until Andy spoke up again.

"You should come to a concert with me next Friday. You'll have fun. Trust me, punkers are nice."

"Next week I have a sleepover with my friends, the entire weekend. We always do that on the weekend before the schools start."

"Cancel it. Say to them that your mom doesn't allow you to go because she is a whiny bitch. Say to your mom you are going to your friends."

"And where am I supossed to stay after the concert?" I actually really wanted to go. I was curious about everything. This would be my last school year, I needed to do at least some exciting stuff.

"My mom is away the weekend you can stay at my place. Don't worry I have a guest room and my friends will probably crash on the couch anyways."

"Alright I'll go with you but if I get caught and get kicked out of my house I'm your problem." I said grinning. After that we talked for a long time and we exchanged numbers and stuff. I was excited to go, it would be the first time in my whole life I would tell a big lie to my mother.
