Beauty and the Beast

Loving Losvy

Third Person POV

Borden was back home in a flash. He was still on his knees begging for his life in the middle of town. He looked around in shock, but he had no time for that. Kenna was being held, or possibly already killed, by five sociopaths. He bolted to his feet not caring about the lingering eyes on him.

The mayor would be his only option for saving the love of his life. He hated the thought but what else could be done? He stormed into the village hall, the building in the center of the village, and demanded to see the mayor.

He was shooed by a short girl with blonde hair. “He will not be seeing you unless you have an appointment.” She calmly said pushing on his chest out the door he just flew in.

“I have to see him! Someone is going to kill my friend!” Borden tried to push past her but two large men had come to assist in kicking him out.

“That’s enough.” The mayor bellowed behind them.

When Borden was released, he shook himself and stood up right. The mayor’s beard covered his thin lips. His suit was a little small on him but no one really minded. “My friend is being held against her will.” Borden panted.

Mayor Losvy looked around and motioned for Borden to follow him. They walked back to the end of the building. The mayor opened a glass door and let Borden in and closed it behind him. The mayor sat at his desk, unbuttoned his suit jacket, and placed his hands in his lap as he leaned into his chair.

“Well?” The mayor motioned for Borden to talk when a moment of silence fell between them.

“My friend, Kenna…” Borden started.

“Ahh the little black haired girl who belongs to Mark yes? Good man, hard worker.” Mayor Losvy interrupted.

Borden would have been furious at that remark if he did not have other things on his mind. “She went into the dark forest…”

“No one is allowed in there.” He interrupted again.

“I know but…” Borden was still panting, just trying to get his words in.

The mayor stood and laid his palms on his desk leaning toward Borden. “No one is allowed in there.” He emphasized like he was talking to a 2 year old.

“But she could be killed. Don’t you care about your people?!” Borden was finally able to finish a sentence.

The mayor shook his head and walked over to a window behind him. He took a deep breath and shot back around to face Borden. “I understand your worry. But she is none of yours, or my, concern anymore. I will not help you. And if you attempt to tell anyone about this I will have you executed for violation of the thirty-second law.”

“But…sh…” Borden stuttered.

“You can leave now Mr…?” Mayor Losvy was reaching for a name.

“You can’t do that!” Borden shouted lunging toward the mayor.

In seconds, two guards came in and carried Borden out by his arms. He put up a good fight but not well enough. He was thrown onto the wet stone pavement and the door was shut and locked behind him.

Mayor Losvy sighed and sat deep into his chair. “Do you need anything sir?” Jack asked, his chief.

Losvy sighed again and played with his beard. “Yes, I want him killed. By morning.” He picked up a pen. “No one disobeys me.”
