My Own Downfall

We pulled into Andy's driveway. I was so excited. I had to keep it tame though. He unbuckled and so did I. "Ready?" He asked. "Always! Oh and my name is Scarlet."I said. Then I winked at him. He got out of the car and went around to my door. Then he opened it for me. "Why thank you" I said. "My pleasure" he replied. I smiled and stepped out of the car. "Ok, you have got to be extremely cool. Don't go all fan girl or you can't hang out with me again" he said.
"I pinkie promise." I said and held out my pinkie. He laughed and we locked pinkies. At that moment I felt a tingling sensation rush through my body over and over again. I pulled away and looked at the ground. "Can we go in now?" I said. He nodded and we headed for the door. He pulled it open and there was Jake with a piece of pizza hanging out of his mouth. He was snoring and his eyes were closed. Andy walked over and slapped him in the face. "Hey dipshit, we've got company" he said. Jake woke up abruptly and stared in confusion.
I bursted out laughing, because I for some reason found his confusion funny. "Uh okay" said Jake. He grabbed the pizza out of his mouth and threw it away. "Uh, sorry about that." Jake said. I smiled and then Andy spoke. "Jake, this is Scarlet. Scarlet, this is Jake." Andy said pointing us out to each other. "Where's the others?" Andy asked Jake. "Give me one reason why you would think I would know where they were?" Jake said. "Just asking dude." Andy said. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Hey. Where are you guys? I thought you were coming over? Well Jake was here with pizza hanging out of his mouth passed out. Oh really? Ok see you later." Andy said into the phone. "That was Jinxx. He said he and the guys will be over soon. Well, besides Jake he is already here. " Andy said to me. "Ok, that's cool." I said. I smiled at him softly.
Andy led me outside to his back porch while Jake was taking a shower because he smelled like a dead rat. "Scarlet?" Andy asked. "Yeah?" I said back. "When I asked you where you lived, why did you say it was complicated and start to leave?" He asked. I stared at the grass for a minute. I didn't know if I should tell him. He might think I'm crazy. But might as well tell him now. "I, um I ran away from my house a few days ago. I left because my foster mother was abusive. I couldn't take it anymore. She hated me with a passion. My foster dad though, he let me go." I said softly. "Oh." He said. I rolled up my sleeves and showed him all the red marks that stretched across my arms. "This, is from 15 years of beating." I said. "Scarlet I'm so sorry." He said. I wanted to take him in my arms and cry but I didn't know him well enough. But he held his arms out for me so I went in for the hug. "Why do you have foster parents?" He asked suddenly. I pulled away and looked at him. "When I was four, a man came into my home and attacked my mom and dad. I managed to stay alive. I don't know why the man didn't kill me, but he didn't. I had hidden behind the couch, but he saw me. He looked me straight in the eye. But didn't come near me. He ran out of the door and left me there with my dead parents on the floor. I had listened to my mom when she told me when there was an emergency call 911. So I dialed the number into the house phone. I said I didn't know my address or anything. The must have tracked down the phone or something because then they were there." I said. Tears were pouring from my eyes now but I wiped them and realized how pathetic I must've looked.
"It's ok. It's all ok." He said. "Yeah, only if it were true." I said. Then he pulled out his phone and took a picture of us. Weird.
Then I heard a yell from inside Andy's house. "Andy? Where the hell are you man?" someone yelled. Andy ran inside and I stayed out here until I thought my face was clear of tears. Then I went in the house through the sliding glass door. "Andy, I didn't know you had a new girlfriend!" Ashley said. I looked at him with a confused look on my face as I closed the door. "She is not my girlfriend Ash, just a friend" Andy said. "Yeah right." Ashley said. Andy gave Ashley a death glare then looked at the other guys. "Guys, this is Scarlet. Scarlet this is CC, Jinxx, and Ashley. You've already met Jake and me so that's it." He said. I laughed because he didn't need to introduce me to these guys, I knew their faces anywhere.
Later, we all sat down to watch Batman The Dark Knight Rises. I sat on the recliner while all the guys piled onto the couch. I didn't really watch the movie. I was to busy thinking. Thinking about my real mom and my real dad and what life would be like if I was raised by them. Also thinking about how my foster mother probably reacted when she found out I was gone. All of a sudden I smiled. She probably didn't care, but now she didn't have anyone to beat the shit out of. I was actually happy for once. I was free.
