Falling Angels
Stay.
Andy's POV
I woke up sensing something was wrong. I headed to Claire's room and opened the door to find no one there. My heart began to beat faster. I ran downstairs to find no one again. Finally, my eyes landed on a note on the coffee table. After slowly walking towards it, I picked it up as if it would explode at any moment.
Andy,
Thanks for letting me stay the night. I appreciate your kindness.
~Claire
My stomach dropped. It felt like a part of me had walked away. This was even worse than the feeling I got when I caught Juliet with another man. I didn't know what to do. Numbly, I stumbled out my front yard. My bare feet touched the grass but I didn't care. All I cared about was finding her. My eyes scanned the street and I saw a familiar blue-haired girl turning the corner. "Wait!" I called out. She turned around and her eyes met mine. I ran off of my lawn and into the street. "Where do you think you're going?" I asked her. "Ummm..." she swallowed nervously. "Why did you leave?" I asked in a softer voice. My change in tone must have worked because that sweet, vulnerable look crossed her face and her eyes began to water. "I didn't want to stay too long. I didn't want to be a thorn in your side. I thought-" she rambled on, trying to excuse her sudden absence. I pressed a finger against her lips and cut her off. "Shhhh....It's an honor to have you with me. I would be so lonely without you. Don't ever worry about being a burden. You-you make me feel better."
I choked up at the end. I didn't want to lose her. The thought brought unexpected tears to my eyes and I knew I had spoken from my heart and not my ego. She looked at me with concern in her eyes and pulled me into one of her hugs. I loved the way her slender body fit perfectly against mine. She was soft in all of the places I was hard and vice versa. Speaking of hardness, I realized that I had something in my boxers to sort out. I pulled away awkwardly. She must have figured out the reason why, because she was blushing and staring awkwardly at a fire hydrant. Damn. She was cute when she blushed. "Ummm..." I struggled to find something to say. "You should probably go handle that." Claire suggested. "Good idea." I agreed. I turned around and started to head towards the house. I noticed that I didn't hear her footsteps following mine. I spun around and saw her standing there deep in thought. "What's the matter?" I called out. She didn't answer me. I walked over to her and made her look me in the eyes. She looked unsure. I already knew what she was thinking. "You can stay as long as you want, but I highly discourage leaving." I winked at her. She smiled. 'Good.' I thought. 'She's healing already.' Her warm eyes met mine and she said in her authentic British accent, "Your accommodations please me. I shall enjoy your company for a while longer." "How about forever?" I asked as I took her hand and led her inside. I blushed because the words slipped out of my mouth before I had caught my vulnerability. She smiled and said in the accent again, "If it suits your preferences." 'It always will.' I thought.
