Falling Angels

Lost It All

Claire's POV
The ride was long but worth it. I was finally free. Now, I just had to figure out where I would stay for the night. I had googled some hotels in LA while I was on the train and decided to take a taxi to a small hotel called "The Inn". It was a strange name but it would work with my small budget. As I googled taxi companies on my phone I received a call. My heart dropped and my stomach was knotted in fear. Taking a deep, shaky breath in I answered the phone. "Where are you?! How dare you run off?! What were you thinking?!" Mary demanded. "Why do you even care? You don't care! You haven't cared since 6th grade!" I smarted back. "First you join the toilet roll and then you run away! You are not a Ramshire. You never will be, you stupid rebel." she declared. "Damn right I'm not a Ramshire! I don't want to be either." I replied. At this point I was yelling. It was a good thing that the train station was nearly empty. "Don't ever come back. You are a disgrace to the family. The only thing you will ever succeed at is being a failure." I heard the phone click as she hung up. For a moment, I was in shock. "Goodbye." I whispered. Tears stung my eyes as reality hit me and I realized she was right. The only thing I would ever be to her is a fail. That wouldn't matter if I had anyone else but no one was there for me after sixth grade. The only thing I had was my family, who already hated me. The only place I had to go was the hotel, and that was only for the night. This time I would not take it. No one cares about me at all. I didn't want to be a burden. With tears running down my face I walked to the bathroom. Setting my backpack onto the sink, I found my shaving razor. I pulled out one of the blades, then I thought about leaving a note. Then, I realized that I had no one to write to and I began to sob. I sobbed for the loneliness and for knowing I could have done better and for all of the pain that was my life. I felt the cold metal on my wrist and was about to cut when the door was slammed open. "Wait!" he screamed in desperation. I dropped the blade, believing my eyes to be the biggest liars of the century.
