Unsung Heroes

Ch. 19 Samba Do Brasil!

I slowly made my way onto the dance floor as it was cleared to make a wide circle. I toed off my shoes and socks and pulled off my over shirt (I was wearing three shirts) so that I was just in my black tank and my skinny jeans.
I moved to the center of the dance floor and immediately felt myself start to shake. My nerves were getting the best of me and it felt like I was going to have another panic attack – my chest was starting to get tight.
“Yeah, Indy!”
“Go Indy!”
“You can do it, babe!”
I looked up in surprise to see the band less than ten feet from me, Ash sitting the closest with the biggest grin on his face with his eyes shining in excitement. Realizing that this would be the first time since we started dating that he would see me dance – and during sex does NOT count! – and having the band there helped my nerves settle down enough to not have a panic attack, and my chest loosened.
I shut my eyes tightly to ignore everyone else and took position, turning my back to the other people and moving to put my hands over my head and crossing them, moving my left hip to the side sharply and the right side of my torso over and held still as the song started.
The first part consisted of one guy singing.
Vem Magalenha rojão, traz a lenha pro fogão, vem fazer armação.”
I moved my hands around to brush my waist and cross repeatedly before resting in front of my, moving my hips in rhythm with them and moving my feet, pausing for him to keep singing.
Hoje é um dia de sol, alegria de coió, é curtir o verão.”
I made more of the slower motions, making them similar to what I did before, but moved so that I could do moves that were basically the same.
Vem Magalenha rojão, traz a lenha pro fogão, vem fazer armação. Hoje é um dia de sol, alegria de coió, é curtir o verão.”
This part was a chorus of women who echoed what he was saying, so I repeated the movements I didn’t before but at a different speed and with a little more flourish.
Te te te te te te.”
The drums, much faster with more rhythm came on, so I started to work my hips and torso forward and backward, turning my body sideways to the people that had been behind me and moving so that my torso was bending and curving to the beat and moving my hips to match the drums beat for beat.
Te te te te te te. Te te te te te te
The chorus joined the guy and I moved my hips more at a much faster speed.
Vem Magalenha rojão, traz a senha pro fogão.. te te te coração. Hoje é um dia de sol, alegria de xodó, meu dever de verão.
“Vem Magalenha rojão, traz a senha pro fogão.. te te te coração. Hoje é um dia de sol, alegria de xodó, meu dever de verão.”
The guy repeated the first verse, so I added heavier hip movements up and down that matched the drums of the song and turned to face the front, moving my arms to quickly match my hips. The song was slowly bringing up speed, so I matched with my hips as he repeated the verse again.
Then the drums got very fast and I dropped my arms and turned to the side again.
O calangulango, do calango da pretinha, to cantando essa mudinha pra senhora se lembrar, daquele tempo que vivia lá na roça com uma filha na barriga e outra filha pra cria.”
This was all said very quickly, so I matched my hips with it, whipping my head around and moving my torso to move forward and back repeatedly while shaking my hips to move up and down.
Calangulango, do calango da pretinha, to cantando essa mudinha pra senhora se lembrar, daquele tempo que vivia lá na roça com uma filha na barriga e outra filha pra cria.
That part was sung by the women at a much faster pace, and I turned my back and brought my hand up to tug at the hair at the back of my head as my hips moved with their words, my feet moving quickly to match them. I brought my arm back down to be out to my sides slightly and moving with my hips.
Calangulango, do calango da pretinha, to cantando essa mudinha pra senhora se lembrar, daquele tempo que vivia lá na roça com uma filha na barriga e outra filha pra cria.
This part was repeated again, so I whipped back around and moved so that my head and arms were matching the song at a pace slower than my hips but keeping the rhythm. “Te te te te te te. te te te te te te. te te te te te te.”
The song picked up more tempo from the drums, so I turned to the side again and moved my hips more fluidly, still keeping the speed but moving so that the motions were smoother and less choppy.
Vem Magalenha rojão, traz a senha pro fogão.. te te te coração. Hoje é um dia de sol, alegria de xodó, meu dever de verão.”
I moved a bit slower briefly before picking up speed again, turning my body back to the front.
The whole time I was performing, my eyes were closed. I rarely performed anymore, and when I did, it was either by myself or with a large group dancing with me so that the focus wasn’t entirely on me the whole time.
Vem magalenha rojão, traz a senha pro fogão.. te te te coração. Hoje é um dia de sol, alegria de xodó, meu dever de verão.”
The dancing slowed down with the song, as it was coming to an end, so my hips moved much slower as I moved to make my signature end pose, which was a contortion pose where my back bending so far I almost looked like I was bending in half and then I’d turn to the audience and smirk. “Te te te te te te. te te te te te te. te te te te te te.
I slowed down as the drums ended and turned to bend back and I finally opened my eyes to see everyone looking at me with dropped jaws or in Ash’s case, lust-filled looks (some guys behind him were doing the same) and I smirked confidently.
I should mention that the whole time that I was performing, that other than the music, it was dead quiet in the bar. You could drop a pin in there.
I turned and rolled back up and took a deep bow the way you would after a ballet recital, and suddenly there were loud cheers and whooping sounds.
“ALRIGHT INDY!” The DJ shouted into his mic.
Blushing, I walked to the edge of the dance floor where my over-shirt and flannel and my shoes and socks were and moved quickly to where the band was as the DJ continued his crappy music and the dance floor filled back up with people.
Before I got to the band, some guy stopped me, grabbing onto my arm so tightly I could feel it start to bruise, and I dropped my stuff. I cried out and wrenched my arm away, and the guy fell on me, he was so drunk.
“Heyy, sexy thinng…” he slurred into my face, his breath rank of alcohol. “Whyy don’t you commme back to m-myy place with mmmee?”
“I” – I started to say when suddenly he was yanked off of me and I was leaning against someone’s chest with their arms protectively around me.
I turned to see that Ash was standing in front of the guy, pushing him back. I looked down at the arms around me and recognized CC’s tattoos as he pulled me closer to him. Jake moved to stand with Ash but put a hand warningly on his shoulder, and I felt Andy and Jinxx flank CC.
“Don’t fucking touch my girl you pervert!” Ash hissed.
The guy stumbled to his feet. “Whatever, mann. I was only interested inn her cause she’s easssy.”
Ash suddenly grew very tense and Jake had to put his arm around his shoulders and pulled him back as he tried to take a swing at the guy.
Moving out of CC’s arms, I pushed my way in front of Ash and the guy and put my hands on the sides of Ash’s face, forcing him to turn to me and look me in the eye.
“Ash, stop!” I said. “It’s not worth it – he’s too drunk to know what the fuck he’s saying, let’s just get out of here.”
The rage seemed to dissipate from his eyes in that instant, and he sighed and buried his face in my neck and brought my arms protectively around my waist.
“I’m sorry, Indy,” he mumbled into my shoulder.
I ran my fingers through the hair on the back of his head. “It’s okay, Baby. Let’s just leave – I’m done with this place, anyway.”
I pulled away long enough to pick up my stuff and slip my feet into my socks and shoes and pull my flannel over my shoulders. Ash then tucked me under his arm and I wrapped my arm around his waist and we started to make our way to the exit, the band not far behind us.
As we walked there, people – namely guys – walked up to us to tell me how hot I was. Ash kept gripping me tighter and tighter until I basically couldn’t breathe when we reached the exit.
Almost as soon as we were outside, Ash started tugging me down the road in the direction of the buses, and I kept tripping over my feet trying to keep up.
“Ash, stop!” He ignored me.
“Ash, stop, my arm hurts!” Still, nothing.
I planted my feet in the ground and forced him backwards and he stumbled into me. He looked down at me with confusion mixed with anger. Not usually a good sign. Ash is usually such a mellow guy and rarely gets aggravated, but when he does, he’s kind of unpredictable.
“What?” He asked innocently.
I scoffed. “What do you mean ‘what’? Ash, you almost pulled my arm out of my socket! My arm hurts enough without you doing anything else to it! I still want to have fun tonight but not in a bar!” I crossed my arms.
He looked at me questioningly for a second and then his eyes darted to my arm, and the anger in his eyes disappeared in an instant. Grabbing my arm gently, he pulled me under a light so that he could examine the growing bruise.
The hand that had grabbed me was huge – even bigger than Ash’s. That was evident by the now large, purpling bruise on my forearm that wrapped all around it, a dark stain in comparison to my skin.
The band met up with us and stood next to me, looking at my arm.
“Ouch, that look’s painful,” Andy said, wincing and instinctively pulling Juliet further into his side, who wrapped an arm around him and pushed her head into his shoulder.
I looked up at Ash, who was staring intently at my arm. Covering his hand with mine, I brought his attention to my face and I wordlessly told him that I wanted to keep going and have fun, still.
Ash let go of my arm and pulled me to him, and I brought my hands up to rest on his chest. His arms wrapped around the small of my back and I looked back at the guys, who were looking at us expectantly.
“Hey, guys, Indy and I are going to find something else to do, why don’t you guys head back and we’ll catch up with you later.”
All of their eyes seemed to widen instantaneously and they all sort of agreed with Ash at the same time before promptly walking around us and moving quickly to the buses.
I watched them go before turning to Ash, who was searching through his phone with a very focused look on his face. When he found whatever he was looking for, he grabbed my hand and pulled me in the opposite direction of the buses. We only had a couple more hours before the buses had to move to the next location, which was in Arkansas.
He dragged me along – carefully, this time – until I pulled my hand from his and moved him back to tuck myself under his arm and slow him down.
“Sorry, babe, I just wanna get there fast,” Ash said quietly, turning red.
I laughed lightly and got up on my toes – which is hard to do when you’re walking –and kissed him on the cheek quickly.
He smiled down at me warmly, love in his eyes. Then he stopped walking and moved his arm to take my hand.
“Come on,” he said, excitement filling his voice. Then he took off, taking me with him, running down the empty streets. I don’t know how many times we turned, but soon, we hit a park. There was a playground with slides and monkey bars and a jungle gym. There were wide, grassy fields with a couple of soccer goals, and an area full of picnic tables and benches everywhere.
I raised an eyebrow at Ash. Why the fuck would we come here? This is the last place I’d think he’d bring me. I’d think he’d bring me to another bar or a club or something. But a park? Um… okay.
“Why’re we here?” I asked him. “I would’ve thought you’d bring me to a club or something.”
Ash looked down at me and smiled again. “Yeah, that does sound more like me, but I kind of have a headache and need a bit of a break. Plus I’d rather not go somewhere where I think you might get hit on or grabbed again.”
He walked over to the grassy fields and sat down in the center, laying down and stretching out, his hands behind his head. When did this turn into a chick flick?
I followed after him and sat down on the grass next to him, looking up at the sky. It was almost eleven, but because of the number of buildings and cars still lit, there were no stars to be seen. There was just the moon, solitary in the sky.
“Indy?”
I looked down at Ash. His eyes were closed, and he had a hand across his chest now.
“Yeah?”
“How come I’ve never seen you dance like that, before? You’re amazing, and you shouldn’t hide such a talent.”
I shrugged. “I don’t know. I guess for the same reason I keep to myself most of the time; I have severe stage fright and I’m an introvert. I’d rather work behind the scenes than do anything onstage. I only went onstage earlier because I was so annoyed with those assholes and I wasn’t performing anything, so I didn’t feel that much pressure. I think the only reason why I didn’t have a panic attack when Maya made me dance was because you guys were there and you were watching me.” I turned my head to look back up at the sky.
“You are a fantastic dancer, Indy. I’ve never seen dancing like that before, and I’ve been to my fair share of clubs.” I knew he meant strip clubs.
“Yeah, well, I danced most of my life when I was living in Rio. It was a good way to pass the time without associating with that many people, and a good way to make money when I needed to. I’d go out to the beach – Ipanema, mainly. I’d go out with a dance mat and a cup or a hat for money and a stereo and I’d dance on the walkway for money. I could dance then because I had a purpose and I didn’t know any of the people who were giving me money.”
Ash sat up. “What about what happened yesterday? You know… on the bus? I’d never seen you like that, Indy. It scared the crap out of me to see you like that, Indy.” He put an arm around my waist and pulled me over to him.
I blushed. “I know, I’m sorry. I don’t know why I reacted to such a simple question the way I did. It’s not like you wouldn’t wonder about something like that. And I haven’t exactly talked about anything like that before. Mitch wouldn’t even try to talk about anything like that.”
Ash groaned. “Indy, I know that he was a big part of your life, but I love you, and I don’t like hearing about your slimy ex. It makes me feel like you still think about him.” He rubbed my side as my face grew hotter than before and I looked down, embarrassed.
“I’m sorry, Ash. I didn’t realize it bothered you so much. And I don’t think about him – at least, not like that.”
He looked down at me. “Then how do you think of him?”
I smiled softly. “As a five-year mistake that will never compare to what I have with you.”
“Can I ask you again?”
I looked up at him. “Ask me what?”
He bit his lip. “About your… kinks?” He said carefully.
I could feel a panic attack start to quell up, but I forced it down and crawled onto Ash’s lap, facing him and straddling his lap. He looked at me in surprised and put his hands on my waist.
“Let’s just say that what I’m into isn’t exactly vanilla.” I took his hands off of my waist and pushed him onto his back, trapping his hands next to his head. His eyes grew wide as he processed what I said.
“Really?” He swallowed. “How much so?”
I sat up on his lap and ground down into his crotch. “Not the heavy stuff, mind you, but I do like to play. I’m a switch, though.”
He looked at me confused. “What does that mean?”
I smirked. “It means I’m both dominant and submissive, depending on with whom I’m with and the mood I’m in.”
He groaned and sat up. “So are you telling me that for the past seven months what I was doing wasn’t satisfying you?”
I laughed. “It satisfied me, but it didn’t cover the bases, so to speak. I was stimulated, but not… pleased.”
He raised an eyebrow. “If after Warped was over, we… explored those fantasies, would you educate me in what it is you’re into. I’ll admit it’s not really my thing, but I’d be willing to try if it would mean trying something new with you.”
I smiled. “You’d do that for me?”
He smiled and trailed a finger along my cheek. “Yeah, I would. I love you, Indigo.”
I smiled. “Eu ti amor, Ashley.”
He brought his other hand up to cup my face with both of his hands. I put my hands on his neck, just below his jaw, and cupped his jaw from below. He pulled me close and met me halfway with a deep kiss. I kissed back feverishly, melding my lips with his. I felt his tongue along the seam of my lips, asking for entry. I opened my mouth and let him slip his tongue in, playing with mine and dominating easily and quickly – or I may or may have not let him just do that.
I broke the kiss when I needed to breathe. “We should get back to the bus. It’ll be leaving soon.” I whispered.
Ash nodded heavily and waited for me to stand up and move so that he could pull himself up.
Taking my hand, we moved quickly back where we came from until we reached the buses. They were starting to leave, but I could see Andy and CC standing outside the bus, putting out their last cigarettes before the next destination.
“There you two are!” Andy exclaimed as we neared. “We thought we might have to send out a search party!”
I laughed. “Yeah, yeah, love you too, Andy.”
Ash and I walked onto the bus and joined everyone else in the lounge area. Andy and CC rejoined and sat on the ground. I sat on Ash’s lap on the ground.
Leaning against Ash, I shut my eyes and let sleep take me.

I write it out on Microsoft word and then copy and paste. Usually if I type it out directly it lags and refuses to let me edit it. When I write it out and copy and past, it shows paragraph breaks. Maybe it reads differently on other computers or something, but I have always been able to distinguish the paragraphs with my computer.

I don't know how it would work on a phone, but I figured out on my computer that I have to click the Enter key twice at the end of a paragraph to get it to space, because just indenting doesn't work on here.

@BlackIris
Im reading on my phone and there are no spaces between each of the paragraphs. It might justf be my phone

Thanks. I don't know what medium you're using to read my story, but on my computer it shows separate paragraphs. I don't indent as it takes forever to do and doesn't always read. This site doesn't always like to allow me to edit and upload the way I would in any other scenario.

This is a good story but you need to put spaces between the paragraphs otherwise its really hard to read as its just a giant block of text other then that I love the story. Its certainly and interesting read.
