Come Now and Imagine with Me

Is There Hope For Us?

-Jinxx’s POV-

With trembling hands, I parked the car. With shaking legs, we walked up to the hospital. I was seriously worried for Andy, he was going on nearly ten years of smoking. Ten years of filling his lungs with smoke was bound to leave its mark. Being a rockstar couldn’t save you from health issues, I still didn’t understand how Ashley was STD-free. Maybe this would teach him a lesson, too. Thankfully, the line at the desk was short, I was only kept waiting for about ten minutes.
“Hello, what is your name, how may I help you, and who are you here for?” The girl at the front asked. She had long, golden brown hair, light eyes, and seemed to genuinely care.
“My name is Jeremy Ferguson, I’m here for my band mate, Andrew Biersack. He was brought in because he smokes and started coughing up blood,” I told her, looking down at the white-grey floors, hiding my pain and also flinching when being forced to give her my real name. She nodded, looking something up on her computer.
“Yes, Mr. Biersack is in room 255, though you’ll have to wait 45 minutes to an hour before going in to see him. There are some tests he is required to go through,” she responded, slipping me a small, square paper in a plastic covering attached to a blue, threaded cord so that I could wear it around my neck.
“Thank you,” I said, leaving and showing the information pass to Ashley, CC, and Jake before we all started towards room 255. There was a second waiting room closer to it where we sat wordlessly until Juliet joined us, an hour passed, and we were allowed in.
“Andy!” Juliet gasped when we entered, dashing over to his side of the bed. I myself gasped. He looked horrible. Recently, he had been wearing a lot of baggy clothes to cover up how thin he was, he was extremely pale and frail. How could we have missed all of this? How could he be so good at hiding it?
“Hey, babe,” Andy coughed out, holding Juliet’s hand.
“What tests did they run, Andy?” CC asked, coming to stand by Juliet. I stood on the opposite side of the bed from them, next to Jake, while Ashley remained in the corner. He really shouldn’t have screamed at Andy earlier, I mean, yeah, Andy should’ve quit a while ago, but that’s no excuse for that angry speech he received.
“I don’t know, something that will tell us whether I have cancer or not.” CC bit his lip, nodding.
“It’s gonna be ok. It has to be ok,” CC whispered.
“How long till you get the results back?” Jake questioned.
“Tomorrow, I think. I’m just-can I please sleep? I’ve got a headache coming on-ah,” Andy moaned, closing his eyes in pain.
“We’ll leave you alone,” I said softly. Ashley remained quiet as we all left the room, Juliet placing a kiss on her boyfriend’s forehead. I paused before exiting to talk to Ashley.
“You go on,” he mumbled, and when he looked at me, there were tears in his eyes.

-Ashley's POV-

"I-I need to apologize," I mumbled to Jinxx, who nodded and left the room. I bit my lip, guilt pounding in my heart as I approached Andy, who was grimacing in pain on the hospital bed. He must have heard my footsteps, because he spoke up before I could.
"I'm not interested, Ashley," he croaked out, opening his eyes to give me a look. "You told me so and now I'm in the hospital paying the price, but I honestly don't give a shit I'm in so much pain right now." Tears tugged at the corner of my eyes, he thought I was going to go rub it in.
"That's not what I was going to say. I was going to apologize for screaming at you earlier, even if I am right. Andy, I'm sorry," I confessed. He shook his head.
"I-not now, I really do have a headache coming on. Ah-ahh," he moaned, closing his eyes. "Please leave me alone." I left the room feeling no less guilty. I remembered something important as I entered the waiting room and sat down between Jake and Jinxx, hand flying up to cover my mouth.
"We forgot to call Andy's parents!" I whipped out my phone and dialed the number, pressing call before I realized I had no clue how to break the news to them. That Andy could possibly have lung cancer after all these years of smoking. Amy picked up.
"Oh, hello, Ashley! How're you and the boys? Was the show a good one?"
"Um, not really. Here-God this is hard-I don't know how to tell you this, but Jake, Jinxx, CC, Juliet, and I are currently waiting outside of Andy's hospital room. He-" I began to cry, I couldn't say it, not to his mom. But I had to. "Cancer sticks," was all I was able to choke out past sobs. Amy hung up with a gasp and a promise to be there. She kept up with our touring and location, she would have a general idea of where we were, and could also text one of us later if she needed to.
"Ash, it's going to be ok. Andy's going to be fine," Jake tried to reassure me, looking me in the eyes and grabbing my hand in attempt to calm me.
"What if it's always like this? What if he's going to die and the last thing I told him was a lecture criticizing him? What if-"
"ASHLEY ABROCKET PURDY YOU LISTEN TO ME RIGHT NOW!" Jake snapped loudly, silencing my spoken fears immediately and causing a few heads to turn our way. "You are jumping to conclusions that aren't even realistic. As of now, we don't even know if he has cancer. He could be fine. In fact, he IS going to be fine."
"How do you know?" I whispered.
"Because he has to be," he responded, sinking back into his chair and rubbing his forehead. "All we can do is wait. Tears will do no good." I meant to reply with an ok, but the word never came.
