You're not my Robin, but you are my Nightwing.
I wasn't sure if you existed.
I bit my lip as I felt my bedroom shake, Ivy was up to her old antics. I rolled out of bed to walk on my hands, until I reached the stairs. I slid down the rail into the living room, and there she stood with a broken oven on fire. She had ash staining her face and a burnt apron on. I laughed as she looked ready to cry, I wrapped my arms around her. "Hey beginners have it the hardest, I love cereal anyway." I admitted.
She looked at me to pout, I laughed again as she kicked the oven. I walked out of the kitchen with two bowls of cereal, putting them on the table we sat down to eat. The oven now destroyed, I enjoyed the sugary mush I ate. Ivy liked hot cereal more as she ate the meal I made. I felt better being with her, thoughts of the past kept me sane but Ivy was what kept me rooted to myself. I needed her and she needed me too.
I heard more cars coming down the street more than normal, I stood up to glance out the window of the living room. There was a couple parked down the street now, I looked at the clock it was barely late in the afternoon. I closed the curtain to stretch, Ivy cleaned up the dishes and was standing by the door looking out. She got nervous around people, I walked over to her and said "Hey don't worry about them, as far as I'm concerned they don't matter unless they're in the house."
She smiled, a rare sight as she hugged me. "Brianna you certainly are different, even from the time you were with Batman." She said, a kiss on my forehead and she disappeared down into the basement. She never wanted to be found, she wanted to live with her babies and wither away with them. I couldn't stop her but I swore on my life I would protect her.
I started my daily routine of working out, my back popping I did a roundhouse kick. Stopping before my man made opponent, it weaved as I kicked at it. I slammed my palm into the jugular, twisting it I dropped my elbow and spun backwards. Sliding on the tips of my toes, I drop kicked the figure from the hanging chain. Sending it crashing to the ground, I was covered in a light sweat I smiled.
I picked it up to laugh, "Sorry buddy you just got stopped by the Batgirl." I said, tossing it in the corner I went to go take a shower. My room was covered in newspaper clippings of Gotham, a quick look at a small picture of Bruce Wayne Manor. I felt the tighten of my chest, I missed the glory days but I wasn't needed in Gotham anymore.
I walked in the bathroom to take a hot shower, the steam filled the room as I let the water run. Quickly stripping down I hopped in, the water felt amazing as I scrubbed away the worries of the morning. I thought of Ivy as she was standing in the middle of her frozen garden, so broken and lost. She never wanted to be a bad guy, she just wanted to be with her plant's. That's why I took her away, she was already broken.
I washed my hair, and jumped as the water turned cold. I told out from under the spraying head to laugh, I never realized how much I looked forward. The past only came to me in moments like this, I wasn't helpless, I wasn't ever going to feel like that again. I turned the water off and stepped out, the towel in my hand I dried off quickly.
(A few hours later)
I pulled my hair into my mask, with a sigh I pulled the mask over my eyes. This night wasn't any different as I geared up, but something was definitely off. I pulled my boots on, strapping them closed I stood up. My gauntlets strapped around my wrist I walked out of my room, Ivy was asleep now the sun going down. I walked up to the roof, stepping out the hidden double doors.
I heard screaming, I ran to the edge to look for the source. My eyes were locked onto something new, I was looking at a group of girls screaming. I looked around to see what they were screaming about, but all I could see was a big bus. The words written across the side said, 'Black Veil Brides.'
