This Is Our Sweet Blasphemy

Our Wings Are Flawed

I was impressed that he hadn’t seen me yet. It not like I was trying to hide or anything, I actually wanted him to know that I was there and that I knew his little secret. The band was currently arranging their instruments; so I guess they would be leaving soon, meaning they were going to look for me soon. I saw Andrew talking to Ash and heard them mention my name. Ash then headed to the back door. Why couldn’t Andrew go look for me himself?

Oh yeah that’s right, because he’s an asshole.

I quickly made my way to stop Ashley before he could open the door; I grabbed his wrist which was just a few centimeters from the knob. He turned to face me and when he figured out who I was he looked shocked. I just grinned back at him.

Ashley looked like he was about to say something when someone called my name from the other side of the bar. I looked around, finally seeing Alex and Jack standing somewhere far from the booth we were sitting in before Andrew came along. He left Jack, who was talking with some girls, and came towards me. I let go of Ashley’s hand and met him halfway; he said something but I shook my heading signaling that I couldn’t hear him so he pointed outside, I’m guessing he wanted to talk to me.

He had a drink in his hand and he was starting to get a bit red on the cheeks. I took his drink before he could spill it and went outside. When I was finally in the cold air of the streets, I checked behind me and sure enough Alex was grinning like a maniac making his way towards me. His brown hair was messy and his eyes were gleaming, he actually looked pretty hot this way. I put his cup on the floor beside me and faced him.

“No more drinks for tonight. You should go home, Alex.” I was looking at him dead in the eye, being very serious. I didn’t know where he lived but I knew he couldn’t go home alone in this condition. I needed to find a place for him or even take him home. I only knew this extrovert for a few hours and yet I felt like I should take care of him, he’s become a friend, and my only friend outside of my personal hell called st. Angela’s catholic school.

“Whaat? It’s ‘nly two in the mornin’!” he stumbled on him words, and started hiccupping. I took a water bottle from my bag and handed it to him.

“Drink.” I demanded. He drank the entire bottle and laughed shortly.

“I gotta pee now.” He giggled.

Great, now not only did I have to take care of a very good looking priest who sings about not saying prayers he doesn’t believe in, but I also had to take care a flat out drunk friend. His brown-hazel eyes looked sleepy, but his body was overly excited; he kept switching his footing and twirling around like a toddler.

“Come on, let’s go home.” I said, not exactly knowing where home was, but I guess I’ll just find a motel or something for him to stay in for the night. He put his arm around my shoulders and I looked for a place where taxi cabs normally stopped, since this pub was full and quite famous, I knew there would be many cabs circling around here. I felt Alex starting to mess with a few hair strands of mine with the hand that was around my shoulder which was soothing so I let him. I called up a cab with a whistle worthy of New York and waited for it to arrive in front of me.

Just then I saw Andrew walk out of the bar, Ashley followed shortly after him. Andrew spotted me quickly and came over to me shooting a glare and Alex and his hands and fingers which were still twirling around my hair. He followed my gaze and saw the cab arriving, he stayed back, which surprised me since I thought he was going to stop me, probably thinking I was going to run away with Alex. The car finally came to a stop in front of us, and I opened the back door for him, he whispered silently in my ear before leaving “Thank you, love.” I smiled lightly, remembering that he was the one who asked if I wanted to go home, but in the end I ended up taking care of him.

I talked to the driver, telling him to take Alex to the nearest motel. I gave him the few pounds I had and he drove off. I watched the car go and remembered that I now had to deal with Father Andrew. Or, Father Andrew had to deal with me. After all, I saw him in a band saying things he should not be saying as a priest, and without his collar.

I turned to face a furious Andrew and an awkward-looking Ashley. Ash stood looking back and forth from us like he was waiting for a nuclear explosion to occur. Andrew on the other hand looked very quite mad, though he wasn’t looking at me at all. He was looking in the direction of the cab, the cab I put Alex in quite nicely. His fists were clenched and his jaw tightened.

After a few seconds Andrew turned to face me. His expressing turned into more of a normal glare. I just laughed. “Why are you looking at me like that? In all honesty, I’m the one who saw you singing your lungs out about being Faithless.” I threw the statement at him like a rag and his face went slack.

“Yeah,” Ash murmured “I was trying to tell you that before you just ran outside.”

A moment of silenced passed over us, Andy looking at me a bit shocked, me almost grinning in amusement at his expression and Ash not knowing what to do or say once again. I didn’t expect him to be the first one to talk, since he looked all awkward, but he did “I, uh, I’m going to leave you two to talk. I’ll maybe see you later sweetheart.” He smiled at me, regaining his composure. Without another word he entered the bar, leaving me and Andrew to face each other.

He studied my expression, seeing that he wasn’t going to be talking any time soon, I perked up “I really liked those lyrics of yours, ‘I’ll never say a prayer I don’t believe’, and that other one was awesome as well, how’d it go? Oh right, ‘In death we’re all believers’.” I decided to tease him while I could. Didn’t he ever think that one of his students could actually see him live one day? His face went red and I was enjoying the way he couldn’t respond to me like he usually did, with those smart-ass comments of his.

He scratched the back of his head and murmured “T-thanks…”

“I guess I can go get drunk now?” I already knew the answer but I decided to try my luck, seeing that Andrew is a bit out of balance right now.

He had a look of confusion on his face and a hint of outstanding, “Are you-like, dude- NO!” while he talked he was flailing his arms like a crazy person and I had to hold back my need to laugh. I shrugged.

“Come on, get in the car.” He pointed to a black Maserati much like Logan’s. For a moment I wondered if it was in fact Logan’s. But my mind went back to the problem at stake. No way in hell I’m entering that car with Andrew; after all he’s only been a douche to me since I got here.

Plus, when I say ‘here’ I mean London, not the bar.

“Um, how about no?” I crossed my arms, showing him wasn’t going to give in to him. “I’ll take the bus.”

I started walking back to the bus stop which was in the same direction of Andrew’s, or Logan’s, car. The priest took my arm and pressed me up against the car. “Oh come on Victoria, don’t be like that.”

He was close. Too close. I was looking into his eyes and let me tell you something: I have never seen such blue eyes, like seriously, and I have never maintained eye contact for this long. His nose was practically touching mine and I felt uneasy, his lips were so close to mine.

I had a moment of weakness right then and there with his up-closeness and I knew he saw it, because he smirked. The bastard smirked at me like he knew I was almost giving up. “Get off of me or I’ll scream my lungs out.” The smirk faded. Hell yeah. He backed off for a few seconds allowing me to not lean against the car, but that’s when he quickly opened the door pushing me in.

He closed the door as quickly as he had opened it, almost taking my arm off but he didn’t seem to care. He made his way to the other side of the car, and sat down looking at me and giving a soft smile.

“I hate you so much goddammit.” I glared at him with all my forces, making him grin. Though what I said was a lie… I didn’t hate him, I was just extremely pissed at him.

“Blasphemy. And you’re welcome sweetie.” He said, turning his attention back to the car. The little shit is seriously just going to act like he didn’t just kidnap me.

Wait… Did he just call me ‘sweetie’?

He started the engine and we were off, back to the school. I put in my earphones and zapped him out. I wanted to swear my head off at him but at the same time I didn’t want to give him any of my attention. And well, there was that other side of me that just wanted to bash his face in.
I pressed shuffle on my iPod and it landed on This Is The Best Day Ever by My Chemical Romance. Yeah, this was so the best day ever.

After a few minutes in the silent car, Andrew pulled over and looked at me. He pulled out my earphones, making me want to kill him in the most painful way possible. “Get in the back.”
“What? No.” I refused to say anything else because I still didn’t want to talk to him.
He sighed “Come on, we’re approaching the school and the staff is going to wonder why you’re out this late. I’m not going to cover for you.”

Even if I didn’t want to talk to him, I really wanted to annoy him “Oh, that’s okay, I’ll just tell him I was out watching the priest along with his band in a bar.” I rolled my eyes.

He dropped the subject, pulling out something from the side of the car door, and putting it around his neck, I saw that it was his collar; the smart-ass. He continued to drive, we came to a halt in front of the big gates and Andrew rolled down the window “Hey Sammy.” He smiled.

“Hello there, Father.” His looked passed upon me and back to the priest. “Who’s that with you?”

He looked at me and hesitated, I was thinking up an excuse which I always had. I opened my mouth but no sound came out. Andrew caught up and figured I wasn’t going to be talking much and sighed “I took Victoria to see a family member of hers who lives nearby; I guess we stayed later than we should have.”

“Oh okay, well… Alright then. Good night Father.” He looked at me and nodded “Victoria.” I forced a smile and the gates opened. I was impressed at Andrew’s ways of being able to invent an excuse on the spot.

After he parked the car I started heading back to my room, I felt his presence beside me and I looked over at him with a slight eye roll.

“What, do you really think I’m just going to let you out of my sight?” he asked and shook his head.

We walked under the moonlight along the paths in silence. I noticed his hand brushing mine a few times since we were walking in sync. We finally reached my room and I pulled out my key opening the door while Andrew stood behind me.

“Are you, uh… Do you like Alex?” the question appeared out of the blue and I really did not want to talk about my friend right now.

I sighed, I knew Andrew had something against Alex but I just didn’t know what. “Yeah, he’s cool.” I said simply, not putting much detail. Did Andrew even know Alex had a boyfriend?

I stood in the doorway and Andy was way too up close, I could almost feel his lips brushing against mine and he looked at me with a very soft gaze, like he wanted to make all of my problems disappear by making me just look at him. “I got worried today, you could’ve gotten in trouble.” He whispered softly.

He came a bit closer, not too close, just a few millimeters and I could swear he could hear my heart beating, as I could hear his. His breath smelled of mint and cigarettes.

“I can take of myself.” I stepped back and closed the door.
