Jakes POV

After biology I waved bye to Lissa and headed for the parking lot.
I unlocked my soft top Jeep and waited inside for Ella.
I couldn't help, but think about what Lissa said about Sandra and CC. There's no way that he would have cheated on her! He loved her. I think... There was that one party that Sandra didn't go to and CC was being very cuddly with that chick. Maybe..? No. CC is my friend, he wouldn't lie to us. Sandra was surely making it up to get Lissa to be her friend. Lissa should be friends with our group. Too bad Scout, Andy, Ashley and probably Ella are already picking on her cause she's new. And if they found out why she moved here, she wouldn't have a chance.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when the passenger door opened.
"Hey, sorry I took so long. Class ran late" Ella said sweetly.
"No problem. I haven't been waiting long" I said starting the engine.
We drove in silence, with the radio on at a low volume when Ella spoke.
"So, what do you think of that new girl Melissa?" She asked curiously.
"Umm, she's alright I guess. I think she likes to be called Lissa" I said correcting her.
"Whatever. She just doesn't fit in. I mean, she's hanging out with Sandra! Eww!"
"Well its not like you guys made her feel welcome. Of course she's going to hang out with someone who has no friends" I said defending her.
"I made her feel welcome!"
"Really? So you don't remember that only yesterday you nagged at me for talking to her" I snapped back.
"I didn't nag at you!"
"Yes you did! You were all like 'what are you doing talking to her' then giving her some nasty look. She's already gone through a hard time."
"So what? She moves from a big city, to a small town. I can't see how that's hard" she said rolling her eyes.
"Thats not it at all! Her twin brother committed suicide! God! You really don't give a shit about other people do you?" I said getting frustrated with her.
"Was probably her fault" Ella muttered under breath.
"What was that?" I said, even though I heard her perfectly.
"Hmm, ohh, nothing. Just that that's too bad" she said clearly and then murmured "Maybe she'll be suicidal as well."
I rolled my eyes at her as I pulled up at her house.
She lent across the center console to kiss me, but I stared straight ahead.
"Jake" she said annoyed.
"Just get out. You've pissed me off" I said calmly.
"Okay... Talk to you later...?" She asked uneasily.
"We'll see" I said flatly.
Ella gave me a worried look as she got out of my car and walked up the path to her house. I didn't hang around long enough to watch her go inside.

Sandras POV

I sat in a hospital bathroom stall twirling my razor between my fingers.
Be strong Sandra. It's not you lying in that hospital bed.
It could have been me.
I just know Scout or Ella did this. So typical of them. Knock out the new girl cause she is gonna be a threat to us. I'll make them pay for this. Lissa is pretty much helpless and they do this. She has been at the school for two days and she is already their new target. Shows how insecure they are.
Annoyed at my own thoughts, I was too angry to cut. I slipped the razor back in my phone cover and went back to the waiting room.
Luckily Lissa didn't keep a lock on her phone and I was able to call her parents, who were able to wait in her room for her to wake up. As far as I could tell, she had a concussion and bruised cheek. She'd never want to come back to the school after this. Would she rat them out? I would hate to see them get away with this.
I saw Lissa's parents exit the room and come towards me.
Her mom was almost in tears. "I just want to thank you for calling the ambulance and being with her. She's kind of awake now, so you can go in and talk to her for a bit if you want" she said barely giving me a smile. They both left the hospital leaving me with Lissa.
I walked into Lissa's room and pulled up a chair near her bed.
"Liss? You okay?" I spoke softly.
"I don't know Sandra. I didn't do anything! They fucking pounded my head into lockers. It's not my fault that Jake wants to be friends with me. Ella is just insecure."
"I know you didn't sweetie. I didn't think they'd take it this far. They have never put someone in hospital."
"What?!"
"From what I know" I said trying to ease her.
I heard her sigh as she readjusted her blanket. "Tomorrow, don't say too much about where I am. Just tell Jake that I'm in hospital and that Ella did it."
"So Ella did do this?" I asked.
"Yep. Scout and another girl were there to, but Ella was the only one who was physical with me. But don't say anything to anyone else. Promise?"
"Promise."
